I don't have CTP2 but I have the first part. When I first saw CTP1 in computer magazines I thaught it was way better than Civ2 and bought it. But after 2 days of gameplay I realized that I made a mistake in buying it. It just can't be compared to Civ2 - and because CTP2 isn't supposed to be much better than CTP1.....figure it out yourself.

I don't have Call to Power II, but I've heard enough about it. It's a lame remake of Call to Power, full of mistakes (like fascism coming before nationalism ) and bugs. I don't even consider it to be a new game. The resemblance to Call to Power is far too great.
Now, about CTP and Civ II... They just have different feels to them. Civ II is wonderfully detailed, and has the best diplomatic system I've seen. It's only drawback is that it's an ancient game. Call to Power beats Civ II in graphics, interface, and realism. But together with that, it has a mechanical feel to it.
What Call to Power cannot be compared to is Civ III.

Ctp 1 and 2 are not worthy of the Civillization title. They should be banned the world over!
Ctp is the product of some corporate moneymonger that saw profit potential in the series.

no game in history....has been worth the 34.95 price tag of civ2 mge....too bad its extra money i shelled out for a game that should have already been released in the origional...... HOWEVER
ctp1 had neat concepts but was too clunky and slow for MP..... ctp 2 i tried for two days...figured it wasn't worth it...
civ3.... jury is out.... topping civ2 will be difficult for game value.... long term that is..... i still love civ2 multi player
