Settler, Chieftain, Warlord etc.
I discovered I was a Settler on this Forum.
Then, I saw each one had a sort of "grade".
I don't want to be a Settler ! Settlers are the people I'm used to sending away to the frontier, alone. They are numerous, and I'm not a number, I'm a free man ! Furthermore, they work the whole year on irrigation, mines or farms, and I don't want that too ! And worst, they are weak, and often finish thier pathetic life under the feet of an enemy unit. That's not my fate !
I would prefer to be an Emperor, it's safer, or perhaps a god.
Seriously, how does these "grades" work ?

Your title rises in stature according to your post count in on-topic forums.
If you only post on the Off-topic forum your post count never rises. There is a reason, of sorts, but it's a contentious point.

Go to the FAQ, you can find an explanation under "XVIII) What's these titles under each poster's login? And why some posters have special status?"

If you look at the very bottom of the forums list, you will see a forum entitled "off-topic" which seems to have more activity than any other forum. This is where a significant portion of the posters on this site spend the majority of their time. Check it out!

Strictly speaking, off-topic, as the name implies, is the forum in which everything that isn't covered in one of the other forums (eg civ2 or alpha centauri) is discussed, ranging from deadly serious gun-control debates to nonsensical silliness. (of the two the latter is more prevalent )

Come to the OT MLC, I have complained about a lack of French people on Apolyton. Why is it there are so few French people who venture to Apolyton. I mean Britain and Germany are a comparable size and prosperity level, yet France has next to know indigenous posters.
And titles, yeah. Under 30 you are a measly settler. 30-100 a Chieftain, 100-300 a Warlord, 300-1000 a Prince, 1000-3000 a King, 3000-10000 an Emperor and 10000+ a Deity. If you will check, I have around 9500 posts, so I will soon be a deity although I am an Emperor at this moment in time. You'll have to do a lot of posting to get to the upper echelons of titles...

I'm sure this has been said before...
French people are just too damn smart to spend their time at OT.

Hell on earth.
It's the place to talk about anything not covered in the other forums.
It's run by very shady characters that hide behind titles and like to say "shaddup!" a lot.
Their leader is this Greek guy who gets really touchy if you mention money or "Macedonia".
Supposedly their is a Canadian guy also, but nobody ever sees him, it's susspected that he met with foul play, but it can't be proved.
Also watch out for a guy who thinks he's a talking Horse, he's a known fink, another guy who may be an axe murderer (he has **** in his name, figure it out), and an annoying guy who always goes on about gun control and how the USA sucks, yet goes there whenever he can.
There are a number of other lowlifes and such lurking about, but the best thing to do is to start a thread with the title "Hi, I'm New!". It is sure to get LOTS of responces, and make you instantly popular.

Yes, that's right Colon, we the French are really smart. But look, sometimes, we like to hear about what's going on by the other's, those who aren't smart.
And as for you Chris 62, I hace heard some stuff about the story of a so called Helen of Troy who came to Apolyton claiming "hi ! I'm new..."
No. I won't send you any poster.

Since nobody else has yelled it yet, DL DL DL...ad infinitum.
How else would he know about Helen of Troy? And don't say he read the thread. That's what he wants you to think.
Chris62, you are a viscious (how do you spell that word?) bastard, aren't you. Go say "Hi, I'm new..."

Spekter, half the people here are potential dl’s, so why should I particularly bother about this guy?

A dl is someone who has the Apolyton version of a multiple personality disorder.
Better not to ask this too many times though.

Je ne suis pas certain mais...
I think that a DL (=Demented Lemming) is, as the name implies, a poster who has acquired a second login and uses it to try to piss people off. Of course I can do that without any DL so I don't really know why people go for that

Wait, you're not gonna blame it on Shin Bet .... they wouldn't now ...
Welcome to where time stands still
No one leaves and no one will
Moon is full, never seems to change
Just labeled mentally deranged
Dream the same thing every night
I see our freedom in my sight
No locked doors, No windows barred
No things to make my brain seem scarred
Sleep my friend and you will see
That dream is my reality
They keep me locked up in this cage
Can't they see it's why my brain says Rage

He wouldn't be the first french poster here (if he really is french, which I doubt).
There are a couple of others in the Ctp PBEMs.
