We want our forum and we want it now
With six months to the release of Civ 3 for Mac (imagine our distress), It is the opinion of I and, well, others that the Civ 3 Mac forum should be initiated now, not after the release. There are many issues relevent to Macs that deserve to be brought up (SR, etc) and it would be convient for us to discuss them in our own forum. Otherwise, we will prepare for battle and invade the Civ 3 general forum

1. He's been banned
2. Why doesn't Dan rename the Civ II mac forum: Civ Games mac Forum. That would solve problems.

yah, I think a "general" mac discussion forum would be good. Faster communication and all that. Right now the other ones are struggling...a unified area would be the best chance to gather all the new and old mac users to chat about OS specific problems, etc.
and I see some of us are already making this into a mac/pc flamewar before the second post was made. Is that a record?

Bloody Luddites
Yeah, it may be handy to have a forum for general Mac use of TBS games, but all issues of strategy for all the games should be discussed in their respective threads. A good idea, ja?

We would be dealing with specific Mac problems. All strategy issues would be dealt with in their respective forums.

A forum especially for macers would help apple users fix their OS specific problems without several days of waiting. If you have several mac forums, though, the userbase is too spread out to be timely and effective, as it is already small.
C'mon guys, give it at least a shot.

By that logic, there are only 140 people who use pcs. The recent iMac boom would reasonably have an impact on the number of macintosh computer users, especially gamers. Careful when you flame.

We all know that the majority of those who bought an IMac did it because of the shiny colour and the lack of cords hanging out of it, most probably middle-age people and familys with small children. This leads me to the conclusion that even though the amount of Mac users are increasing, the amount of Mac gamers are not increasing by much, now you can flame me

It is the civ forum, but (correct me if I'm wrong) MOSTLY the type of middle aged people, families with younger children who would buy the IMAC for its pretty colors are NOT the type of people who are actually thinking about game compatibilty as anyone who DOES play a complicated game like civ would do. He wasn't saying that no middle-aged people/young families with young children play games, he was saying that the TYPE of people who would buy an imac for those reasons wouldn't be the type that play civ..
just my $0.02

people who buy MAC's have (or had, for the MAC users who read this) obsolutaly no concept of gaming or they would have realised that buying a MAC sucks and the would have sprung for a real computer.

Mac:
Middle-Aged
And
Children
Mac users aren't useful to society. And do you ever notice how there are thousands more iMacs on tv shows than in actual use?

When one examines such issues as speed and ease-of-use then Macs compare quite favorably to PCs. But we won't examine those issues. Suffice to say that Windows had a much better marketing strategy than Macs in the early to middle '90s. In ten years there will be more Macs than PCs (pardon my optimism).

I can't see that happening, PCs are far too mainstream. You've got more chance of replacing windows as the standard PC OS.

Hexagonian, thats my point, Mac is for work and PC is for games, why should this change?

I don't believe it will...
5-7 years ago, I would of been one to say that Mac were superior, mainly due to their simple learning curve (Heck, my boss bought us Apple computers in the 80s - I was a complete computer-illiterate then, and after looking at how PCs were set up with the DOS platform, I'm glad that I didn't have to learn on that!!!) But Windows has really caught up in that department - to the point that the operating systems both have the same feel to them.
When I bought my home computer, I never even considered a Mac. The industry is so geared to PCs now, its not funny. The one area that the Mac had the advantage (graphics creation and manipulation) is almost non-existant today.
It's a PC world!!

The issue at hand is not whether macs or pcs suck, it is simply whether or not there should be a new mac forum on apolyton. For the love of God, what's all this "macs suck, pcs suck" business? Grow up, people. (for the record, admiral has been very well contained )
Is there an opinion from the admins or mac mods?
