Civ3 LE contents...
EBgames has the contents of the Civ3 LE Box listed (I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before)
They are:
Exclusive Video Chronicling the Making of Civilization III
Video Celebrating Sid Meier's Induction into the IDSA Hall of Fame
Designer's Notes from Sid Meier and Jeff Briggs
Fold-Out Tech Tree
Civilization III Game/Manual
And the link
Ebgames Civ3 LE

Hah! Great minds think alike. I've JUST posted EXACTLY the same information in the "Civ 3 release Date" thread!
Hope we can trust EBGames to have got it direct from the horse's mouth (if Firaxis will pardon the expression)...

Does this mean the Tech-Tree Poster won't be in the standard edition.

Hmmm, since the US version will undoubtably come in a full cardboard box... does that mean we'll get the tech tree while those in other nations won't?

That tech-tree better come with the original Civ3 because I won't have enough money for the LE and that tech tree is more useful than the manual, for me at least because I don't read that much of the manual, only when I need help with something.

Well it's already known that you can see the tech-tree within the game accordning to the screenshots.
This doesn't mean that a tech-tree poster isn't nice however.

Whats all the fuss about?
Tech tree posters aren't that important to me, neither are those other added extras. Game manual would be useful for specific issues I guess.
Provided there is a *.pdf file of the tech tree/manual on the cd that I can use/print off then its all the same to me. In past games that have had tech trees, after a while I never look at them and just play it all from memory.
Is the LE the same price as the standard, except it will only be available for x weeks or something?

Jesus! If there isn't a tech tree poster it won't really seem like a civ game! That's the best part except for the game. I remember opening Imp2 and finding the tech tree poster I just sat there and read through the thing for 30 minutes before I even installed the game.
And we need the good old 400 page manuals! They're a trademark of civilisation for christs sakes.
And if this comes in a lousy DVD box man will I be pissed!

Will the LE be just as easily obtainable as the SE? Meaning when I go down to Best Buy on the release day of Civ3 to buy Civ3 will there be LE games and SE games on the shelf? I would imagine so but that would really suck if not. How much is the LE going to be selling for here in the US, $60? Will the SE be $45?

I don't know if it's just an american thing or what, but I have never seen a game released to Jewel Case when it's brand new. after a while, they will lower the price and put it in a JC, but never to start with.
I could have bought AC in a JC when I got it last year, but bought it used instead in the box for 5$ more. I wanted the manual.
what really ticks me off is when I get a box, and there's nothing but a blank (not even labled) JC and some ads.

pesonally I don't care, the most fun is playing the game from the start and than figuring out how it all works from playing it.
it works well for me at least. I enjoyed this with Civ I, and being here so much, i don't think a manual is of any use.... if they have bundeled all three civs in the special edition, I might buy that, and a Civ III shirt
Maybe we could have Civ III Apolyton edition

The CD, the manual and the tech-tree poster, most (if not all) expects that in the standard edition as well.
Why is "Designers notes" separatad from the standard game-manual? (or maybe it isnt. They perhaps just try to make the contents look more impressive then it is?).

All I wanted and expected was the regular edition in a tin with strategy guide. These videos must be on actual VHS, eh? Well, that doesn't make up for no strategy guide. That... is... gay...

Yes, if this is the true list, I'm a bit disappointed.
A video is okay, but I would have preferred to have seen any of the following:
-Die cast models of each of the civs unique units
-A Civ3 tshirt/cap/bandana/underwear
-High quality/ metallic cards with stats and info about the seven civs
-Signed photo/poster from civ team
-Civ3 mini statue/coffee mug/pen

16 units??? Not practically and economically viable. Also, most customers want to wage civ-wars on their display-screens - not by moving around die-cast units.

And all civ-customers have the same body-size? Underwear? Are you serious?

If needed, 2 double-sided durable plastic-card infos would be great.

Please, give it a break. Why not a thick Civ-2 style Official strategy-guide instead?
