What?! Then does that mean that people who ordered their standard edition of Civ3 from EB will get their game two weeks earlier than mine? I understand if the standard edition was pushed back for every store but this I don't. And I already preordered from Amazon a while ago (when their release date was October 16!) Geez this is really annoying

Regardless...I think we are still in for a wait. Personally I think Dec 28 is more realistic than Oct 17...

Half the time I am convinced that these companies just pluck dates from thin air though, there never seems to be any level of consistency with the release dates they publish and reality...

You're a man of not inconsiderable influence in the civ world, and you are a European. Why not say something, stick your neck out, that the principle to delaying release in Europe before the US is totally unacceptable and that you hope this is not the case. I really would resent being treated like a second class citizen...

i don't care what amazon.com says. They don't even sell limited edition. If they would like to sell it on hallowe'en, then screw them.
Down with the Amazon.communists!

Well Mark, Firaxis, Infogrames, whoever, you have always been more than helpful to the gaming industry around civ. Perhaps it is time to rattle your sabre...
Paul L, how could you not understand?

I never pay attention to "release dates". I just wait until the moment arrives....
MarkG, when are you expecting your pre-release copy to do your pre-release reviews from. When you have started your "Day 1: The opening screen" review, then we know its close to final release.

...and Amazon.uk says december 28th!
If this gets released in october in the US and in dec in europe, I guess I'll be ...ordering then.
I'm starting to get really tired of these totally uncalled for differences in release dates. There's no way it'd take two months to translate a manual (and I very mucho doubt they'll translate the game... *shudder* Oh please no.), and the work on this SHOULD bloody well have begun the instant an english manual was released.
Besides, why the heck delay a UK release for localization? All Infogrames (if it's them behind it) manage to do with this is garter ill will from the customers.

Well, the link provided by down th' pub allows us to send messages to infogames... so if worst comes to worst, we can complain directly to them about releasing it to the rest of the world later.

Oh, what's wrong? Is there trouble in Britain? Did "Father Christmas" decide that you've been bad boys and don't deserve Civ during the Yuletide season? Well that's too bad you stuck up bastards! ( )
Well, If it really is released that late in the U.K., I'll ship some North American copies over at increased prices. It's the least I could do for the motherland. $150 regular edition, anyone?

Thing is, this is not only the UK we're talking about. This is the entirety of Europe, with some 320 million people in it. And we're getting mighty tired of being treated as second-class customers.

Oh, come on, you guys...
Try to imagine MY situation, living in Brazil, where we don't even know IF Civ3 will be released... And IF it does, I'm almost sure that won't be in a portuguese version... Anyway, it could be released here in aramaic, I would grab it nonetheless!
Of course, I could pre-order Civ3 from Amazon.com, but it would become too expensive for me... So I think I'll have to wait. In my mind, they will release the game here in Brazil, because Civ2 (translated to portuguese) sold well and all those things... We can only hope, I guess.
