While I was working on this worm-bodied, big-fake-eyed creature, I found out that I don't know how to do textures. I'd like to know if someone could make this monstrosity look less like a flat image. Here are the Civ2 ToT unit and a larger image for reference.

Return of Mr. Oobir's Virus Unit (Zontar)
here's a funny thing... I've just been working my way through this thread (all 30 or so pages of it) when I spied Mr. Oobir's 'Virus' unit and I thought, it looks almost exactly not-unlike the 'Zontar' barbarian unit from my 'Frank Zappa: Touring Can Make You Crazy' scenario which I'm working on....
Zontar is the monster from the sci-fi movie 'It Conquered the World', and appears in the prologue to Zappa's wonderful song 'Cheepnis' (a song about monster movie cliches)... "It looks like an inverted ice cream cone with teeth around the bottom, a sort of inverted pup-tent affair.. it's very scary...."

-big, ugly, green virus-looking thing
-five eye things on it (big one on top, four smaller ones below)
-pointy injection-like projections on bottom (first three bent, fourth straight)
-asymmetrical design
-two fleshy arm-like projections on either side
-rests on piece of metal

Very interesting. However, I believe that this Zontar is somehow even uglier than "Virus." It is quite hideous...

I am one of the BIGGEST Zappa fans you will ever meet. I have everything he did on vinyl from Freak Out through Joe's Garage (with one exception: OSFA). If I can be of any help on your project, please cotact me.

Just to get past the Zappa stuff, here are some units. I'm still working on the infantry. The top 3 are all modified versions of other units (Leopard 1 - Case; made it camoflage + added shield), Leopard 2 - Scott F; modified slightly; made camo), M-109 - Nemo; redid the whole rear end because the turret was all wrong and probably still is) and the bottom 3 are my own work (Prone soldier w/ antitank weapon, soldier firing stinger, soldier holding Dragon AT weapon)
EDIT: the image is in the next post; I forgot to attach.

Hi Jacobite,
thanks for the reply - the Zappa scenario is still at the planning stage (working out Tech tree etc, unit types). I'm currently finishing off a 'WW3' scenario then I'll get on with the Zappa one. It's gonna be fun though ! I'll keep you posted, but it may not be till the autumn... (I also have an Isaac Asimov scenario on the go too..)
If you're interested, I wrote a short biog on Zappa that's in the 'Rough Guide To Rock'...

Exile: Found this on Meiji era Japanese uniforms:
Infantry
Infantry wore a dark winter uniform of blue tunic and trousers, both with red piping. Headgear was a round, dark blue, peaked cap, with a yellow band. Equipment was black.
The summer uniform was either white or khaki, and often mixed with elements of the winter uniform. The cap was soft, and often worn with a neck-cloth.
Cavalry
Same as for the infantry, but the jacket had hussar-like frogging in red, and the cap-band was also red.
Artillery
Same as for the infantry, but with a dark cap band.

Okay I figured this would be the best place to post a "wish list" of unit graphics. Right now Im working on a scenario for the Korean war, heres my list:
North Korean:
Infantry
torpedo boats
guerrillas
Yak fighters
T-34 tanks
South Korean:
Infantry
American:
Infantry
F-82 Sabre
B-26
B-29
paratroopers
LST
field Artillery
marines
rangers
Chinese Army:
Infantry
Mig-15
hope that isn't too much, I'll post any other units I need in a new list later on in the week. I have to go to work now bye

Space05us,
Take a look through the pages of this thread, many of the units you've requested have been posted in here already.

Can you also do one of wood and one of straw? I think I have an idea for a quick scenario.
