Mongols land AC, I win???(=Shadows)
This is kinda strange,me(the Shadows) and the mongols are in the spacerace to AC,We both arrive the same year and I win(joy joy).
When the mongols start their turn there is the popup:Mongols arrived on AC,and then the endmovie kicks in but it declares me as winner).
How is this possible and what are the factors taken in account??
WHO____TRAVELTIME_____SPACESHIP
Me______11.7years_______FullSpaceShip(40 000ppl/all components)
MONGOLS__12.5years_____SMALLSpaceShip(10 000ppl)
thx

That has never happened to me. It may be a bug. (Would it be the same if you were the one with the smallest spaceship?)
I don't know how the “who won” check is made. It may start by checking if you ahave filled any of the victory conditions, if not is checks the first AI and so on. That would explain it. A check of the spaceship size is also possible.
Now, where is Firaxis Civ2 team when we need them?

If you landed on the same turn,it goes in turn order.Mongols are purple so they go last. You win.
Any tie goes to turn order.White beats green.Green beats blue..etc

So in that case it's always usefull to play the White civ?
But I still have the problem with the messagebox that said:Mongols have arrived on AC????

well, just imagine they landed after you and were butchered by your colinists , works for me.
it said they landed becouse the game dosent end till ALL turns are taken, you landed FIRST they landed AFTER you so you win but it still says they landed.

Believe me I am,it was quite tight.
I was almost halfway builing my ship when the mongols began rushing their ship,I had to put in everything I had and could launch the next turn,Just enough speed to pass them at the finish Phew...
Now we can continue upgrading our army(and bribing their fleet )and then KABLOEIEEEE bye bye Mongols
(or maybe fist try to split them(with barbs if possible))

If you were in a rush, why'd you send a full-loaded ship?

That's a bug. There are quite a few of these still in v 2.78. See the thread WHO conquered them for another example

its not a bug, you DID land before the mongols they go last in turn, its just like playing a board game. If you reach an objective before someone else than you win, whether they should have or not...

Jay Bee, there is no bug. Just as with building wonders, a tie goes to the human player. However, all the AI civs complete their moves before victory is announced. So you and the Mongols both made it on the same turn, and you won the game based on the "resolving a tie" rule above. Enjoy. By the way, yours is the first tie I've heard mentioned on this forum (or any other for that matter).

1)I always do(why send a miniship???)
2)It was 50%finished wen the Mongols started their rush(<5turns)
3)really don't like those little ships, they look like they are still under construction
4)BIGGER SCORE-BONUS

Would you have taken a loss rather than send a smaller ship?

I have taken a look at the composition of my ship and the Mongol one
WHO___Struct___HumanRes____Propulsion___Speed
Me_____All______All__________8/8(ie all)____11.7y
Mongol__All*_____1/4_________6/6_________12.5y
*==>maybe 2 or 3 not.
GP I'm not sure but I think that the speed only depends on the number of propulsion units.Btw since I had the resources to finsh it up in a single turn why shouldn't I and the parts I needed were mostly propulsion so...
There would have been no difference in launchdate if I only had build the propulsion-units.(I hadn't expect the Mongols to launch so fast)
I have a little question Why should you send a smaller ship(except when you're racing in an occ game)??

=>I needed One turn to get my propulsion fast enough to win,why shouldn't I add the rest in that same turn and get the extra Bonus???
