Firaxis, Alexander was not Greek
The Civ3 site's Greek Civ description shows Alexander as leader of the Greeks. This is wrong. He was actually Macedonian and he and his father actually conquered Greece (except for Sparta).
Actually to be politically correct, Alexander was an "FYROMian".
A better choice for leader would be Pericles or Lysander. They were Greek at least.

This is true, but we must remember this is not a game designed for us history buffs but for the ignorant masses! By and large, most people would probably associate Alexander with the Greeks.
Alexander did do well to spread Greek culture in any event.

Be a good kitty. Marcos is touchy about this stuff. He's an FYROMulan himself.

You might as well say Napoleon wasn't French [born in Corsica] or that Queen Victoria wasn't English [German family]. Phillip of Macedon expended a lot of effort trying to be Greek, and raised his son to be Greek. That's good enough for most people.
I'm not even going to touch the FYROM issue. It's not as if the name of the country is the most pressing concern in the Balkans.

Aristotle also tutored Alexander BTW.
But again, the Greek Civilization in Civ3 (like in Civ1 and Civ2) isn't just about the Greek culture before Alexander finsished what his father started. After Alexander's death, when Antigonos (is that the right guy?) took over the Macedonian part of the Empire, it was still Greek (largely because of King Philip and Aleander the Great).
