UUs, CSUs, CUs, SUs?
What is the official nomenclature on the damn little buggers anyway? The firaxis site uses "Special Unit", "Civ-Specific Unit" and "Unique Unit" intermittedly, and I've seen a lot of people use "Custom Unit" as well.

I accept anything except Custom Unit as that must be reserved for units not made by Firaxis

I don't think it really matters. I'd go wit CSU, Civ specific units. I would agree though that custom unit should be reserved for units not made by Firaxis.

The problem is that civ3.com lists them like CSU, SU, and UU in some cases. They should make a choice

LOL at Banana Unit

I voted for SU, because you can pronounce it. I guess you can fake a CSU by saying "cisu."

Better SU or CSU. About Unique Units, what if Firaxis decide to have more than one for Civ (i.e. Cossack and Mig29 for USSR)?
How does it sound "the second unique unit of Civ"?

CSU - Civ Specific Unit (the one unit that's a little better than the comparable civ built by everyone.)
CU - Custom Unit (designed by modders)
SU - Special Unit (such as Settlers, Workers, Diplomats, and Spies)

That argument sounds good Dugrik
Maybe I should read the thread first before voting the poll
I voted for special unit, but I see now that Special Unit for Settlers, Workers, etc. is better, because they are "special" too
Now only Firaxis needs to read this thread..

Dugrik,
I think you have made the best chooses, as all units are Unique the UU is a bit odd, and as I said before CU must be reserved (as you have done). About SU I think you are right Settlers and workers are special, and differs from other units. What we have left is CSU, and that is a quite name for them (except that it is long).

Unique as in "The custom of folding your trousers three times on festive occasions is unique to this picturesque region of france". I personally use UU, and don't see any gramatical/logical problems with it.

I also actually prefere UU before CSU, and voted for that. What I said in the last post was that CSU was the only thing that I couldn't misunderstand. Still UU is mush easier to say, and I guess that we will have to be stick with some different names for a while. It must be because of Firaxis not giving them a good and consequent name from the beginning.
We will just have to wait and see what they name them in the manual.
