Server too busy & Error message
1) Is this due to the incident and the furious pace of post in the OT? Or is it indicative of another problem?
2) Also every time I post I get
Quote:
|
Error
Runtime error has occured.
Do you wish to debug?
Line: 10
Error: Object expected.
|
What do I need to download for IE to resolve this problem?

it's due to the increased traffic. we broke our concurrent users record about 20 minutes ago. if you get it, wait a few seconds and reload. if you have many windows with apolyton open, dont reload them all together

i dont seem to able to get the error
you can try going to
tools -> internet options -> advanced and checking the "disable script debuging" option

#2 does not exist in the light style. I posted about it before, but I first experienced it while rating, so I posted it as an error while rating threads or something similar to that.

I thought it might have been a new feature of the site that my old browser didn't like. Turns out just to be classic M$.
Is it a script error then? Or just a feature that my browser can't "comprehend"?

It is because you are curing the symptom, not the problem (not showing script errors.) And it is the wrong font in that page in Default too. Light uses the same as the rest of the forum, but Default uses Times New Roman (or look alike)

It is the onLoad="show_loading_time()" function that is being called in the body tag, but not exist in the page.

if the function doesnt exist, how is it possible to be working (7.9secs to load this page)?

It does not exist on the page that redirects you to your post. And it is in that page the error is.

Could we get a debrief on what was done to the servers? obviously more than just the RAM...since the problem persisted after the RAM was added but now seems to be pretty much fixed.

Sounds like you aren't getting any more bribes from Activision...
Oh well...I'll have to stalk you at the Admin sites to find out the answer to my question...

Can you get Dan to lighten up? I think you handle me better than he does.
I've been trying to work my magic on him...but he still resists my sneaky funposts...
Oh...BTW, I've been researching/stalking you. Some interesting stuff...

Mark, you fixed it.
Still some questions: Why did you add that scrip? Couldn't you just only add an empty function?
Can you add the styles that fix the fonts and/or the basefont-tag to get it look as the rest of the forum. The light redirection page look better then the default

at that time, that seemed the sollution that would most possibly solve the problem

actually, i'm going to be changing that page on the light style. there's no reason for a redirection page to look nice and it saves bandwidth....

It has nothing to do with what thread you try to view, it has to do with the number of pages that may be generated by the server at the same time. (I think it is limited to 150, but only MarkG (and possible DanQ) know if I'm right).

the server busy messages comes up when the load of the server is too high. this is not directly associated with the number of people on the forums(obviously it also has to do with how many requests to the server each user does, and it also has to do with all the other gamestats affiliate site that are on the server)

It seems ironic that the ads load just fine when we get the server busy message.
