Chinese city names are still hard to read tho. Maybe if it was in black or if it was in bold it would help legibility...

Here the links to screenshots. These are new (i think)
http://bonusweb.cz/obrazek.html?obra...ion3_scr30.jpg
bonusweb.cz/obrazek.html?obrazek=civilization3_scr33.jpg
The first one is a birds eye view of an unknown city. Looks like its on a river.
The second is the German civ in the stone age. Some of the cities are production Musketmen, an "Epic" and a 'Forbiden Palace"

Most of the screens look quite nice.
Too many roads/rails.
You don´t need the scientific method for flight ; so You can get helicopters long before even simple tanks; weird.
I do not always understand the ratio behind what is within a border and what is not. On one of the screens there is a single tile northeast of Rome, where I really can´t figure out why it belongs to Your civ.
When have the Germans occupied Salzburg? Salzburg is, was and will be Austrian. (Seriously, this is like making Warsaw Russian, or Brussels French.)

Salzburg was in civ2, I think as one of those 'extra' city names which come when you run out of civ specific ones. I might be wrong, it may have been in as a german one, but it was definitely in.
Anyway, my point is that it might be a 'neutraly' named city and its just co-incidence that germany has it, or they might have run out of german cities and put austrian ones in later on the list.
After all, would you rather your 52nd city as german was an austrian city or an australian one?

Yeah, that's what I thought too.
It certainly looks quite much like Victoria in her
old days. So I was quite confused for a few moments,
because Beth II has appeared earlier as the ruler of Britain,
so I almost thought that they at Firaxis have changed their mind.
But, I don't think it looks like Catherine, because (see attachment)
she looked a bit better than that old mad cow in that screenshot.

Neither; the Germans DO have 52 cities, after all. I think.
Seriously: There is something to Your argument, but as I might want to create an Austrian custom-civ, I´d prefer Austrian city names not to be used at all in the shipped game.

Well they are old screenshots, but still, you can gain new info from them.
Hey, even at that age, do you still reckon Catherine the Great still went with horses? Hey, maybe they should write it into the game that Catherine the Great has to acquire horse resources at all costs, otherwise she'd never be 'satisfied'

Are you jealous on female intelligence?
At least Elizabeth I and Catherine the Great were all
good leaders, at least if you compare them to some of the leaders
in these days. But you're right, I think these options would
have been better as the leader of the Russians:
- Peter the Great
- Alexander III
- Nikolaij II
- V.I. Lenin
- Josef Stalin
- Mihailj Gorbachov
Well, Gorba is still alive and everyone doesn't
see Stalin as an acceptable leader, but still...
They have been succesfull leaders (IMHO).
But Catherine is at least better than nothing at all.

This is off topic but since you guys are on the subject of Catherine the Great I'd just like to share something I heard about her. When I took Euro history I was told that she had some sexual perversions (something to do with animals...) I don't know if this is true but my teach didn't deny it. I was shocked to hear this but weird rumors like this abound when I think of history. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Hey Catherine the Great was a ruthless woman. She expanded her empire from the Balitic to the Balkans. She won every war she fought.
Yes, Bismark. I have the Box (pre-order box from retail store) it shows all the leaders except one. I don't even think hitler was one of the great German leaders. Let's be realistic, it was German engineering that made the German war machine. Not hilter, he was a stupid man. Everyone knows during war you don't kill off millions of workers, you make them work for you and serve in your army.
I'm thinking Montezuma for Aztecs. But, he looks much lighter than before in his skin color. No idea who the Iriqoius leader is. I'm assuming Shaka again for the Zulus.
One big thing though, Why are some of these nations in and not the Mongols. Let's be realistic here, you think the Zulus should be in instead of the Mongols? I'm sure Khan would be putting the smack down on the designers right about now.

I know that. I added him on purpose so that someone
who knows Russian history well, would catch on that.
As a matter of fact he was one of the worst czars
in the whole history of the Russian monarchy.

hey, look at my last post, that is what it was all about (a joke referring to Catherine the Great's bestiality and the horse special resource )
And as for the Salzburg question: I cannot remember the city list for the Germans in Civ2, but Salzburg was most certainly on the list for German cities in Civ1, but this will have been sorted out long since. I mean, why would they have to add an Austrian city. Same with Konigsberg which used to be on the list, which is now in Russia (Kaliningrad) Lets face it, there is no shortage of German cities to add on the list, such as Kiel or Düsseldorf or Dortmund, which weren't included.
