Building destroyed with artillery/atomics...
I was woundering if an atomic bomb, tanks, bombers or cannons would destroy cities' buildings.

For exemple, when the Britanics attacked Quebec City (Canada), they aimed for Quebec Cathedral (for moral implications I guess).

Also, I'd say that bombers quite often destroy all in a city... Maybe we could aim for such a goal, or maybe it would sometimes be the result of sucessful bombing.

Wounder if wounders could get some damage like this... As I know, the Sphynx got his nose cut off by Napoleon's artillery. Will some wonders break through time?

Well, there is bombardment, which is only capable of being performed by a few units. I think you can only bombard city walls and coastal fortresses, though.

Guess we'll have to wait & see. It's a good idea though - when bombarding a city, your enemies could lose hitpoints and their buildings could take collateral damage as well.

It would also be nice to be able to target a building with bombers, rather than targeting military units. It would be pretty fun to take out enemy factories.

Yes the bombard model is like CTP. If you bombard the city enough, a random building will be destroyed now and then. Im almost 90% certain this is the model

i never played CTP, is the bombard units function still the same?

(damaging several units in a stack, but never killing them?)

Basically you can attack with cannons/artillery from ranges. If you bombard the city for long periods of time. The population begins to die and riot..Buildings are destroyed. Food supplies will generally cease to be distributed. Thus cause starvation. Aerial bombing has the same affect

It is possible to kill units, especially if there is a large technology gap.

Nitpick time! ;-) The Sphynx's nose wasn't shot off, it was vandalized by Arabs a few centuries before. I read that in National Geographic.

If they do I'll be furious. Things don't break unless (1) They aren't maintained (Wonders don't have an upkeep) or (2) Someone screws with them. I doubt that your own people are going to write in red spray paint "GO PACKERS!" On the limestone side of the Great Pyrimid.

As for the real discussion here, I'd love to be able to destroy improvements with my bombers/ICBMS. That's what a bomber is for.

You never know... We are talking about Puker Fans here...

What about the wonder changing appearance over time? Or having the ability to be rebuilt if it's been bombarded?

Being from Mass... you should know they're probably going to rebuild the WTC.

I'm sure if the Pyramids were destroyed, someone would build them again. Most "Wonders" that were destroyed were done so in times of chaos when the means to rebuild them were not available. Monuments have historically been built in stable times, and unfortunately chaotic times usually mean a shifting in power, or they can also last such a long time that people forget about the Wonders.

Also, how do you know the Pyramids at Giza aren't rebuilt from earlier pyramids that once stood but were destroyed?

Food for thought.

Terrorists bomb the WTC.... US bombs Afghans.... Afghans attack Pakistan.... Pakistan detonates nuke.... India detonates nuke.... US/Russian Republics respond with nukes.... HAVE A WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL WW3!!!

Actually I think that some of the pyramids were built on top of older burial monuments. IIRC there were some ziggurzats there in the current sites of the pyramids, so they were kind of rebuilt.

I'm betting a lot of monuments and other things were built again after WW2 in Europe.
