Day 4
In a conversation with EnigmaticGod, I asked him when Day 4 of his course would be posted. He said it wouldn't because there wasn't sufficient interest.
So in an attempt to boost his ego, and increase my civ knowledge, I ask the following question:
How many want Eyes, oops EnigmaticGod, to post his 4th installment of "on the road to becoming an expert"

As if there's a need for that!
This is a strategy forum for CivII. Bring it on, many people read without posting. Many could learn something.

yeah- its true - I read the stuff - but I never would actually play with those tips - so far. The map tricks mentioned just seem to detract from the spirit of the game for me. I guess I'm still hoping for wisdom that would come in handy and fit in my notion of fair and fun game play. If EnigmaticGod has come up with all these tricks, underhanded though they may be, he must also have a whole host of other tricks. So I would say to EG to not be discouraged by those of us who just wouldn't have fun playing with the tricks he suggests, and to go ahead and post more tricks just in case some jewels come out of them - and I have a feeling he has a jewel or two up his sleeve. Of course I realize that "jewel" is a matter of opinion.
By the way - how can you rate a thread? I noticed that the posts EG did got 1 or 2 stars - I certainly dont think that rating is fair and would like to bump the rating a bit but I'm not sure how.

seems like there's interest to me, after all the day 1 thread has over 700 views. there's a quite a few people that could learn from a player of his skill and experience
as for thread rating, there's a little drop down list box below the last post of the thread on the left side

His threads get rated based on his personality (as Eyes of Night), not necessarily the content.
I think the number of views and posts is more telling. The Day 1 topic was one that can only be used in certain situations - but is useful in that narrow range. Other topics can certainly be informative in other game situations. I suspect anybody who wins alot indeed does have many tricks we'd like to learn.

Ok, I'll do day 4. And no, this wasn't some ego boost thing. I need to be able to do screen shots in order to do day 4 and I don't know how to do it so that I can scale the file down in size, draw on it like arrows and stuff, and to cut out a portion of the main screen shot. Anyone want to teach me?

paint shop pro seems to be a decent image editor. you can download a 30-day trial at www.download.com (its 30meg). i've used it to resize an image (my avatar) and to make a new units.gif out of other peoples' gifs, so you shouldn't have any problems using it

No, but I do have a problem downloading a 30 meg file since I'm on a 56K modem.

Yes, let's see day 4.
This forum gets a little stagnant when someone isn't around stirring the pot
And now that MP is in question for CIV 3 in the near future, we're still gonna be playing II.

Gee, and every now and then I learn something.

All indications are that MP won't be part of the initial release.
For a discussion on part of the paranoia
