A Fundamental Celebration
If you have both Statue and Hanging Gardens and multiple trade routes in your citys, I recomend changing to Fundamentalism and going 20% lux and it is possible to manage your citys so that they celebrate.
This will give you the trade of a rebulic(which will allow you to continue your trade routes with big bonus) and give you the production and happiness of a fundy/ try it....
I used this in a recent game, a win, of course...my tax revenuse went up by over 100 gold due to celebrations....

Very interesting but just 1 question - What does statue of liberty have to do with it (other then not having to time your switch)

I never go for communism. AS a commie, you dont get the benifit of having no unhappy people. It is much harder to celebrate. As for the tech restrictions in fundy, I use low sci. and many caravans to do the tech, as far as I can see beakers from caravans are uneffected by this restriction.

If you never go for it, how can you talk wisely about it?

If you like celebrating in Fundy, wait until you see what happens in Commie. Your science goes thru the roof, and your troops keep everybody content. Trust Smash, La Fayette, and I, you will really like it.

Yes, happy commies are good! With heavy trade and science set 70%+, you can get a tech every other turn with Communism. Set luxuries high to get the people celebrating, et voila! Representative gov't arrow production with martial law and wandering bad guys as a boost. It's easy to keep them celebrating as you lower the luxury rate, increasing science again.

Now, I play 2x2 almost exclusively and most of the time due to time constraints in a duel. If allowed to get to a celebrating fundy and am not far behind in population and # of citys any further tech is supurfulus as I have already won.
Now , as said previously, if you need tech in commie, or fundy, just deliver enough caravans to do the tech, high tech rates are pointless.
Since most players dont like bribing being part of the game, fundys main weakness of cheap citys and units is eliminated.
Thanks for the advice, but in fundy, I am the most relentless son of a B itch you will ever, and I mean EVER play.

By the way I have never jumped off the Macniac Bridge, but I know that it just cant be good, so even though I dont go for commies, that does not mean that I am ignorant on the subject.
After all, I am 8 time Game league champion.
