Woohoo, the shots are updated as well. They show newer graphics for what is being built as well as people. Cool!

A City Screen showing Paris building Smith's Trading Company. You may also notice Magellan's Voyage being built in another city shown on the map. The people look good.
Two mapscreens, two new domestic advisor screens.
Another view of Paris building Wall Street and has something named Draft on it.
Military advisor: In republic all units cost one gold/turn. The Wonders of the World screen and a Summary Replay.

Hmm... The Jaguar Warrior is 1/1/2. Although not as impressive as other units, I think that they could basicly be cheap military units. It has the same stats as a Chariot, but I'm guessing won't require any resources.

Discuss the Aztecs in UberKruX's thread

This is kind of funny, but I just notice that I've become a King, and when I check my Post Count I find that my 1000th post was this thread.

Ok, from screens:

The military advisor lets you compare 2 civs militaries on the same screen, and apparently you can capture workers.

That endgame replay looks nice! Info on destroyed cities, etc.

The city screens are cool. The new maps screenshots also, but I find the greener squares too brownish - I had hoped they'll imprint more vivid colors. And more blue tints on the sea continental plateaus.
Only a small concern though next to the abandoned "Ask the Civ team" where we SHOULD have learned more.

Overall, nice screenshots!

However:
-Replay seems pretty basic; just captured/destroyed cities, that´s it.
-It is not easy to tell happy/content/unhappy workers apart. This is a step behind Civ I!
-The terrain seems overcrowded with roads.

The forest graphics are much nicer, more varied and less tile-like.

Also, the mountains and hills roll well next to each other.

What's with all the mines on grassland though? New mining benefit?

It is mines, Dan has confirmed it, but what do they mine?
I've no idea.

Some nice modern screenies too.

Oh yeah, each tile isn't covered in railroads anymore. They must have kept the Civ2 concept of not giving extra trade benefit for railroads. Hopefully the AI will realize that though, unlike in Civ2.

You will be able to edit the graphics and place the old graphics in the place of them if you like to, just don't make me use them.

...and did you notice the roads are no longer various widths? Does that attribute go away in the modern era, or has it been taken out of the game?

I think the new style is due to the need to identify foreign citizens in cities captured by your civ. It can´t be mere chance that french citizens are pink even in the city view.

Wow, I'm really surprised no one picked up on the fireworks over the city in the one map screen...

As far mines go, you can mine grasslands (and even desert) now, you just don't get as nice a shield bonus as when you mine hills and mountains. If you dislike this, you can of course change it in the editor.

Dan
Is it the same shield bonus for all grassland, or does it depend on an attribute of the tile that is set when the map is generated?

That is what the blue things are, I couldn’t just make it out (as it didn't animate) Is it We love the President day? I hope there is other animations for it if you haven't discovered Gunpowder
Sory for quoting twice, the Computer wouldn't load the screenshots so that I could check them until I'd posted (IE insisted on crashing (I’ve been online to long without restarting))

Ding ding ding, we have a winner. When your cities are in WLTKD there are fireworks above the city. Yes, this happens no matter whether you've gotten gunpowder or not, and yes we're aware that isn't historically accurate It's designed to let you know what cities are really doing well, and we thought it would be a little odd to only see that AFTER gunpowder.

Re: grassland mining, you set the bonuses on a global level in the editor, not at the per-tile level.

Hospitals allow you to grow to the third city level (i.e., past pop 12)

Here are two items that really stood out to me in these new screenshots:

Mountain Rages, you very rarely saw those in Civ2. It was either a small wad of mountains or one standing alone.
The other is the city screen. It shows all the land surrounding the city, not just the cities land. Sometimes when you have several cities and you're flipping through all of them, it's hard to tell where it's at. Hopefully this will fix that problem.

I have a feeling that October is going to go very very slow...

Doesn't matter that mush, I just hoped that you had find some other cool animation to use before gunpowder, but as it may be tricky I like that it show all the time more then it being historically accurate.

Good, I like that it is simple, but it could have been done as resources also, as you have the engine to do so.
