"...And we shall call it Mount Smack", Sarita proudly exclaimed, "after the great Peacemaker leader Commissioner Smack from the Chiron era. It is fitting this dormant volcano is named for one of the great leaders for the Peacemaker era, and without his guidance, I feel that we wouldn't be here."

And the Gods looked upon their creation and dubbed it Aldebaran and it was good.... But the God named Bob had been hasty and named everything according to famous people in some imagined world called Apolyton. In fact, Bob wasn't a God at all, but a temp worker from Omaha who really couldn't care less. Bob had been pious in his worldbuilding and hence was hired to carry out all the little details that supreme beings just can't be bothered with, like taxes, and vegetables, and Placenames....
Still, it would be good if you emailed the turn...

Hi guys,
I sent 2308 on to Arima late last night (Thursday night).
I was stuck working in a very small town this past week, so my internet access during the week was very sporadic. Sorry for any delays.

Matsumura coveted information more than anything. Like a great bulbuous spider sitting motionless in the center of its web... sensing and interpreting the vibrations coming in along the radial anchor webstrands... hungering... planning... steaming venom dribbling from its mandibles...
SLAP! SLAP! uhhhh... sorry
In a moment of weakness, Matsumura had allowed the colonists to democratically choose the site of Syndication - the second faction base. Naturally, the idiots had decided to colonise near the top of the volcano - face it - they settled inside the cinder cone! The geologists had assured him that the volcano (Yang's Grave) was dormant - but the all too frequent rumblings from deep within the earth... errr... aldebaran, quickly put the lie to that nonsense.
Luckily the higher volcanic slopes supported an abundant supply of the olive-like fruits [vegetables (?)] that possessed those incredible aphrodisiac-like characteristics. In the last few years fully half of the settlement's females of child-bearing age had become pregnant. At least the inhabitants of Pompei... err... Syndication, might launch several colonies before they met their doom.
Those Aldebbie Olives (as they had come to be known) could be pickled in a brine solution just like their counterparts from Earth - for extended storage. Children seemed to love them too - especially on bread covered with that synthetic peanut spread that the Hive had acquired in bulk from Morgan during the years prior to their departure from Chiron. Matsumura, felt the bile rising in his throat at the thought.
Already a thriving market had sprung to life between Daimyo Hub and Syndication, with Syndication trading Aldebbie Olives for Daimyo Hub's prized Witless Rapierfish and seasonal Fingermauler Crab harvested from the sea by Daimyo Hub's experienced fishermen.
Matsumura pondered the future of the Syndicate. The engineers with the State run Limited Liability Naval Construction Group planned to lay down the keel of the first exploratory naval vessel this year. That design - under the State authorized Series 17xx Naval Construction Contract (NCC) - would be known as the Ubiquitous Sea Ship or USS Franchise and as the lead ship of the class, would bear the NCC-1701 series identifier.
Construction was also underway on the canals linking the northern and southern oceans. Matsumura expected a sizeable settlement to grow around that project.
The future looked bright.

Turn 2311 to Smack/Outlaws
You'll'll be getting a reload message due to a crash.
The game had to see the good Dr. Watson after I attempted an apparently unauthorized visit to the Tech Tree having started with the base unit-selection screen / Help on the Pressure Dome equivalent / then the fateful Tech button from the datalinks. I guess it's not just the F1 entry into the datalinks that is a no-no.
Smack, how is that Tech Tree info coming?
Nauticons too dumb to use the help; Nauticonia! Nauticonia!
Smack's A** was grass butt'll soon be kelp. Nauticonia! Nauticonia!

JohnD, thanks for the reminder about the tech tree. I have no excuse tomorrow as I have off from work AND school. Didn't know you couldn't get to the techs from the units...I hope the techs from the F2 screen still works? I'll mock up something tomorrow...I promise.
There were signal fires on the hillside, or were they burning rover chassis? Ah, if only we had a rover brigade, this exploration through the reddish hills might go faster...and perhaps more safely.
Turn to the Syndicate.

Fall is a very busy time for me and I, unfortunately, have to spend a lot of time travelling. When I am in a hotel, it is pretty easy for me to get my turns through e-mail, but it is not very easy for me to access Apolyton. Some of the access speeds from my laptop in small town hotels makes Apolyton load painfully slow, so I can't always post my turn sends during the week.
2313 was sent to Arima on Monday.
