Has anyone else done this?
I had a devilish idea, when I found out that it's
quite easy to show your agression towards the Talibans in Civ II.
How? I played as US in the WW79 scenario and
landed near Karachi with a large army and air forces.
Not to mention all the missiles.
Then I simply nuked Kabul into ashes and took
over the whole area.
Try out for your self. Quite fun.

...I think you could have been nuking the wrong persons... or well... at least you could have hit the right persons (15-20) together with some others (110,000)...
... unfortunately it not so easy...

would be interested to know if a mjaority of americans feel the same way, nule them all and **** the innocents !!!! After all that is th eattitude of the Terrorists...

I usually refrain from playing scenarios as they limit a lot of the things I prefer to do, the art of empire building etc seems to be missing from most scenarios, a lot of scenarios are more about WAR not Civ . IMHO

mmmh...
I don't think so.
But I agree on scenarios. However it is quite difficult to have a good scenario with the "correct" tech tree...
I'm seeking suggestions on which scenarios are ok, but please I don't want to move 125 units every turn, I'm not General Niccolò, but an illuminated leader.
I leave massive war plans to the warfare lovers... (and Civ is also a wargame!!! Wonderful! )

Looks like I'll have to explain myself.
My intention isn't to cause more violence or
death. I apologize if my thread offends someone,
but I think it's quite strange to blame me for
writing about indirectly caused death of civilians
in a Civ II scenario. Reality is reality, and
Civ II might be realistic, but I'm not a frenzy who
wants to have bloodsheds.
Please, try to see the difference between the real world and
Civ II, even if playing Civ I/II/III is apparently highly respected
here.

most americans don't think like that, there is actually a peace movement growing in the US right now, and it's getting bigger.
I too am going to pass at playing out that part of the scenario.

it wasn't my intention to blame you!
... and I have to agree, it's quite funny the destruction power you can have playing some Civ games! (nuke 'em all!!! )

I am perfectly aware of the fact that civ is a game, and I don't wish to forbid anyone to play Taliban if he feels like it.
Please, play as you like and enjoy it!
I just spoke for myself: Talibans, terrorists and the like are no fun at all ...for me...nowadays. And there are so many great scenarios that I haven't played yet.

the day that the wtc got hit I droped 4 nukes on Kabul... Im calming down a bit but what your saying is "let them kill real people, you should just let your anger build up instead of playing a GAME to release some" but of course if I had put 65 Nukes into Kabul on sep 10th I would only have wasted resourses...

Actually the message of my thread isn't to
say that I'd like to be a dictator, who
causes lots of death, neither have I sayed
that I like/support/love the Talibans or any kind of
terrorists. Nope.
Let's make it clear. I dislike/don't support the Talibans and
I strictly condemn all forms of terror and racial abuse. Capíche?
The point was that you can demostrate the fall of the
Taliban regime, by attacking Kabul in the WW79 scenario.
I also tried to show you that it can sometimes be enjoying
to do that kind of ruthless(?) acts in Civ II.

Lighten up, folks. I think his scenario sounds like a good way to let loose some of the frustrations many of us are feeling at the moment. One's rage may make them WANT to see the Taliban and Kabul blown into oblivion, even if one's rational side tells them that it is not the way to go. Playing it out in a ficticious game allows one to live their fantasy without actually killing anyone.

That's also one the points with my suggestion.
It's actually you, Americans, who want to have bloodshed;
so pardon, but don't try to complain about my behavior.
Look in a mirror, before you cry!
