Effect on recent events in including "terrorism" in civ3
Im curious if anyone knows of any changes to civ3's gameplay because of the recent attacks in NY and Washington? Was any previously planned "terrorism" add-ins removed?
Seeing as how all forms of media seem to be effected by showing "terrorist" actions - Do you guys think that the recent events should effect civ3s gameplay? Would you want any extra terrorism features removed/(even added)?

I dont know about what firaxis has done, that's anyone's guess. But I don't think terrorism should be taken out solely b/c of the attacks. Whether or not is needed is another issue.
In civ 2, spys could perform terrorist attacks so i hope its still in. Otherwise, it would severely limit gameplay. IIRC, smart weapons can destroy city improvements, so that should perform the same gameplay function as terrorism. So with smart weapons or spys (if they are still in), you could have terrorism without special terrorist units.

Its been confirmed by Dan that spies/diplomats are not in. There is an espionage menu that allows you to do spy-stuff... although im not sure just exactly what has been kept or dropped from Civ 2 regarding spies.

Ive always thought that "terrorists" would best be modeled by more powerful barbarians. Maybe barbarian "spy" units capable of espionage/sabotage.

I agree, but civ3 is one of those games destined to sell a whole bunch of copies, so they may be looking for the sales edge and no want to offend anyone.

Sorry, I thought that was clear in my earlier response, the "E" does indeed stand for espionage. And you might as well know that Diplomats and Spies have gone the way of the caravan as well; this is all abstracted to advisor screens and game interfaces.

I'm sick of this "offend" crap. They're even scrapping ANTI-terrorist games, for fooks sake! Is the world going mad? Shall we all embrace Osama as the great leader that showed us the truth, and change everything we do to show him what power he holds?
CRAP!

It looks like terrorists might be easy to make. They've just said their will be "smart" weapons where you can pick a city structure, so probably with a little editing you could make a land unit that could attack one.
