Leader Animation or Wonder Movies
Of all the the things people have complained about, I have shrugged because I didn't care either way or another.
But I just realized they are spending a lot of time and money on the leader animations which I really couldn't care about. I would much rather they just eliminate that altogether and make the wonder movies instead.
I really don't need an animated face telling me what their attitude when I can get it from a few lines of text in a diplomacy screen.

If you look at the screenshots, you'll surely notice that there are wonder movies included. It seems to be though that they are CGI and not real video... those magnificent wonder movies were one of the reasons I loved Civ2...

I thought I read a Sid interview that said there were no Wonder movies because they take the user out of the game world in a disruptive way, and that there would be something new instead of them.

I think they're both a waste of time. After my first few games of civ 2 I turned both wonder movies and the entire meeting room off, so i just got to see their message box.
On the other hand, I do like unit animations. I think I'd like it if they spent their time animating the map and its associated units.
But I'd prefer that they spent the majoirty of the time working on the game, rather than the extraneous stuff.

Definately like both of them but want to have the option of at least disabling wonder movies.

I like both, but perhaps I would have liked even more the wonders movies than the leaders. After seeing numerous times the magnificent SMACx project movies, and enhancing the overall feeling of the game instead of " taking the user out in a disruptive way", I don't understand then why a static image upon the completion of a Civ3 wonder . After all, you have the option ON/OFF in related games. At least a 15-30 seconds movie shot is a nice enhancement, and seeing occasionnaly a 3D movie renderer within a classical TBS engine is somewhat refreshing - excuse me. It's their decision, and part of the cuts, so I'll live with that if the game's core to be a better one. However this is a drawing back next to the industry's tendency.

The leader animations are functional and the wonder movies have been replaced by simpler animations. So...

With an addictive game like Civ, movies are a bad idea (for me anyway). I played an easy game recently, with the goal of building every single wonder so i could see all the wonder movies. I had to force myself not to click when the movie started up, just to get back to my game. Civ is too addictive
Ill have to see te leader animations first before i can make a judgement on them, but i dont think they'll add too much to my experience.

Diplomatic animations?
I wouldn't feel more in a diploomatic scene with a diplomatic animation...
Reason? Well such diplomacy, for an exchange, may be hours of talking, eating, etc, etc. So someone simply saying me this for me isn't that immersive to me. But a wonder movie shows an accomplishment to me.

I'd still rather have more civs included instead of the Max Headroom animations.

this is easy! leader animations will be way cooler. i got tired of wonder animations after the first 3 times(i think many people did), but leader animations have a purpose.
they really come from civ 1 where the animation was limited but very clear. those were cool

What time and money? Surely they just manipulate the first image to make the animations!? As for the wonder movies, using real footage and panning across historical painitings/images and whacking in some music is not a major undertaking.
What worries me is that they seem to be expending energies making the game worse. They put so many 'features' in the game that the latest ones are starting to become detrimental to the game
