Win2K Stability
Hey there all! I wonder if someone could offer me a little advice on running the game under Windows 2000.
Right now, the game will crash if I have anything running in the background - even a download, for instance. It will crash if the game isn't the very first program I run after booting. So, for instance, if I've already run Internet Explorer and closed it, if I then try to run CTP2, it will crash.
I think you can understand how annoying this is.
Does anyone have any advice for making the game a bit more stable? I have patched, and have the latest DirectX, video drivers, etc, etc... Is the game any more stable under WindowsME (I dual-boot)?
System:
Win2K SP2 dual boot with WinME
Athlon 1.4gig
512 meg DDR RAM
geForce2 GTS (latest nVidia 21.xx drivers)
SB Live Value
MS Intellimouse Optical
Thanks much!

Hmmm..... I use win2000 Pro and I never had a single problem. I can't help too much, I guess. If I were you, I'd get rid of winME just for fun. You could even come up with some sort of CD throwing contest (or any other method to destroying winME)

people, if you have WinME and Win2K dual boot, then, getting rid of WinME is a very risky process. One thing goes wrong can trash your whole computer.

Well, the decision was somewhat made for me, as the physical drive on which I had my Win2K partitions just died. Sooo...it's back to WinME for me for the time being, which is just fine with me as I seem to be one of the few people who has had good results from that OS.
