Record of Name Changes
From someone absent from ACS for a while (6 months is a long time in the ether), what's happened to the handy list of name changes that use to be here? Can't keep up with who used to be whom these days.

I was complaining about the same thing a few weeks ago, but the mods didn't even post a reply to my thread!

Sorry for not addressing this sooner, but is this something that people really want? Looking for input -- please send myself, MarkG, Ming and MtG an PM (private message) if you are.

Thats probably because you need a mod to change your name these days.

Mark has summed it up pretty well...
There have been so very few changes in names since the change over. Where as before, there were MANY changes a week, now...
If a high post poster changes his name, it is usually very obvious to people who he really is anyway

Ming, I reckon you should change your name in order to knock your "enemies" off guard. That just wouldn't expect you to turn up and say "Case Closed" with, say, the username "SuperFluffy Bunny".

... Although not many people are doing namechanges nowadays- the feature would be nice to have.

So, if there are so little anyway, why not catch up on all the name changes that have taken place since the last report, right in this thread?!

But has anyone been keeping track of the name changes? I don't know if vBulletin automatically keeps track of any changes of username.

You just had to look harder
http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=11961
It was on page 24 or 25
And as far as I know, the new software doesn't keep track of name changes, because we do them manually. (correct me if I'm wrong Mark) and we aren't keeping a master list either.

While you are correct that it is the only way a name change occurs... but no, we don't keep track. Why should we? Just extra work. Many of the changes are simple ones like Change from all little letters to the same thing but with a capital letter instead... or I misspelled it, can you correct it... While there have been a few major changes, they are usually done for very good reasons... like Civ3site to big fluffy lion (or something like that) because he no longer hosted a Civ3 site.
As I said before... if some well known poster is changing his name, it is usually obvious. They either put it in their location field or signature (formerly known as), and if not, their style always gives them away in no time. Or, just look through the Apolyton Forum... because that's where most of the requests are in made.
Again... It was nice when the software did all the work... but that's not the case anymore. Now it just means more work, and there are far more important things for people to do then spend their time on keeping track of name changes, and then posting them

It looks like the occassional Apolytoner is doomed to ignorance - maybe there ought still to be a "welcome back" portal to ease the community re-integration process.

Don't I know? Since you kept dropping hints about being someone else before, I actually went through the trouble of looking up the name change thread.
