Hey,
well I don't have the time for another game of Diplomacy now. Really, I am happy I can post, but that's all civ, ggs or Apolyton related time I got. Too bad.
About the 404. Where is it? I don't seem to have any errors at all! Even not on the NEW #GGS IRC WEBCHAT.
Let me know,
Elmo

The domain couldn't be found. It's back now.

I've received the rules and map from S. Kroeze! I'll read it tonight if I can and ask questions if needed. We really should start a thread in the Diplomacy thread I think...

There seem to be more problems with the website. F2S (the free server we use) is getting more and more unreliable. If I could, I would move to another server, but the prob is where do I find a free server with php support? Free space enough, but we need php to let the site run...

What exactly is PHP used for in the site?

About anything!
- It constucts the pages (topics, headers, 'options menu' (the links in the right top) and content are all different files)
- Logging in and out (cookie)
- Generating lists (downloads and meeting logs are automaticly build)
- The whole news system (adding, reading)
- Counting # of downloads
and I might have forgotten something...
See? It's needed. Well, it's not NEEDED, but we'll loose lots offunctionality + it makes it a lot harder to update the page.

Have you heard of http://www.freewebspace.net/? They've got a search engine for free web servers, and you can limit the search to just the hosts with php support (or any other features). I'm not an expert but perhaps you can get something out of it, if you already didn't know about it...
By the way, what's the deal with the domain name www.gunsgermsandsteel.com? Do we own it?

Hey all,
I have moved the website from F2S (the old server) to the sourceforge server. It supports all major functions needed for a webmaster! From now on, www.gunsgermsandsteel.com is redirected to ggstoc.sourceforge.net (the website ades at sourceforge).
I didn't knew anout freewebspace.net, but it seems a good search engine for free hosting. Sourceforge is just fine though! The real reason I never used Sourceforge for the site it that I didn't knew how to upload, but thoughout time I have more experience with uploading other than ftp, so I now had enough knowlenge to do the (ssh) upload. It's really easy, but you have to get the right program for it...
About the domain name: We do not own it. In fact, anyone can buy it if they like, even Firaxis . But it's free, and we can buy it any time when we think that we need it. It's just a redirection to our real website now.

Change of subject:
DilithiumDad is willing to join! Only two more to go!
S. Kroeze, don't you want to join for this game? Or wouldn't we stand a chance against you?

Let him please send me an e-mail with his mailing address so I can send him the rules of play!
I can be either GM or player, not both simultaneously in the same game!
A GM knowing the orders of his adversaries in advance, will beat the most experienced players!

So the new players are:
DilithiumDad: pre@po.cwru.edu
Tony Karg: tkarg@sympatico.ca
Hobbes: jcrocombe@dingoblue.net.au
But I guess it's the real-life addresses you need...

Great! Thanks a lot!
I only need a real-life address when they do not have the rules of play of Diplomacy. I hope they will send me an e-mail, confirming their readiness to participate.
Hurray!

Since I think it might be interesting to compare the experiences of "L'INVITATION AU VOYAGE" with "SANGLOTS", I bring this thread to everyone's attention again.
