Settlers and workers
Do workers and settlers still disappear after being used?? I think that this coiuld be changed. Once a settler had built a city they could still wander around, exploring but not being able to build a city.
You should get an option when you build a city to keep or get rid of the settler.
Anyone agree?? Probably not but answer anyway.

Yes, the workers and settlers are absorbed by the cities/colonies that they build, and I don't think it'll change.

Are you daft?
A settlers unit is a group of people, when they SETTLE, they form a city. They don't plant a seed and poof a city grows!! bad idea

I am daft but I kind of like my idea. Civ isn't realistic anyway.

Sorry BFL, but i dont agree. When the settlers unit settles, they use the whole settlers population to build that city. You cant have your cake and eat it too!!

No way, BFL. Talk about "The Return of the ICS strategy"...
(btw, workers don't disappear after being used).

Workers only disappear if they build a colony, IIRC.

So the workers basically 'terraform' through colonization?
Hmm, I know I am missing something...

Workers can build regular tile improvements (roads, irrigation, etc.) just like the settlers did in civ2. A colony is built outside of your territory to harvest a resource (like iron) that you want. They must be connected by road to your cities, and the worker is lost when you build one. Once your borders expand enough and absorb your colony, it disappears but you get the resource.

Thanx Kyller! Sounds like they merged the Alpha Centauri terraformer with the supply crawler and added a dash of 'settler' to make the worker.
Thanx again for the info; "I loik it lot".

If they engulfed the road then I would assume it would no longer be usuable by you.
According to the tutuorial posted on their webpage, when one of YOUR borders engulfs the colony, the colony disappears. It would be reasonable to assume that colonies cannot exist inside the borders of any nation.

If they werent engulfed by an enemy culture (by stationing military units in the colony, having a higher total culture than the other civ, etc) then this could lead to some interesting tactics...
Like Resource stealing, sending in a worker or 2, plus some military escorts, and starting a colony on a resource the enemy is already using... Would of course start a war between your 2 nations, but would be funny, and could be useful if, say, they only had one oil resource and you stole it. That would bring their military to a halt

I guess the colony would disappear and the resource would be directly available to the enemy civ.
