Discussion on the effects of wonders in Civ 3
When Civ 1 was made, the wonders were fairly weak compared to their civ 2 equivalents (generally speaking). Will Civ 3 continue this trend of having powerful wonders? Or will it go back to Civ 1, as it seems to have done on many other things in the game.

Let's see what wonders we actually know the effects of

Forbidden Palace- Essentially a second palace, reducing corruption and such. (Plus it's probably good for scaring off neighbor kids, seeing as how it's actually "FORBIDDEN")
Leo's Workshop- Downgraded from Civ 2, but more fair. Halves upgrade cost of all units.
Longevity- A "WLT*D day" type population boom, little else is known.

Are there any others that we know the specific effects of?

Even if most of the wonders would be more powerfull than in Civ2, the 'minor' ones can now be built by every civ in a game. Therefore it won´t be that crucial anymore to get a wonder pretty fast.

here's another one I thought of
Military Academy: Allows you to build armies without a great leader.

Great Wall - Builds a visible wall on the map. What I want to know though, is how large is this wall, and is it adjustable in size and shape? What If I play a world map in North America, can I wall off Florida? Or maybe it's bigger and I wall off Mexico? Does it change size with different size maps?

Canal - builds a canal between two bodies of water. I think it also allows you to charge money for access to the canal.

These wonders bring up another point. Who owns them? How do you capture them? I built the Wall, but then got beat back to another continent, is the Wall still mine? Abe built the canal, presumably he gets a toll from it. How do I capture it?

I thought Firaxis said they weren't going to put these wonders on the map. The Great Wall is still in the game; it's been seen in countless city view screenshots, but we haven't seen anything about the Great Canal since.

We're not sure exactly what the Great Wall will do now. Maybe it's the same as in Civ2 (city walls in every city), but it might be something else. Does anybody know if the Pyramids still put a granary in every city?
