I think we should be grateful that Firaxis takes time to update the site once a week! They don't have to do anything.

Oh yes, they really HAVE to, whether they like to or not.
They MUST build up the hype around the game, by constantly giving updated info to game-magazines and potential customers. The market-competition is very though and Civ-2 is a very old game that some have forget about, and many new potential customers never played. If they dont bother with "hype-building", then they stand the risk of loosing several hundredthousend copies worth of profit.

Your timing is impeccable, since I had something new to put up there today anyway.

Smell? Oh, that smell. I guess I'm used to it; I seem to smell it every time I say anything on these boards...

It's so slow. I've been downloading it for 15 minutes and only made 300 kB. With normal bandwidth it would be finished by now.
Edit: It just speeded up to 4.1 kB/sec. I guess that is a bit faster.

The fansite Kit contains images according to the text (I don't know if they are new or not as it is slow)

Apolyton is at a very high speed, but the civ3 site is really slow. Someone must have cut off the fast connection to that site from Sweden. I'm still downloading 65% done, 0.1k/sec .
