CivIII tech: Music Theory
As a musician, I must express my admiration for the inclusion of such a technology in CivIII. Music, and the musical sciences, have always played a large part in the evolution of culture. Music is often the banner which is flown to herald the glory of culture.

Music can alos have beautiful performers - Britney Spears. But here music does suck, probably like she does.

Music theory was a very good addition to the tech tree.

Not to mention music's effect on the early development of the human brain. Let there be more music - but it's got to be music with both depth and emotive power.

Well this is OT from Civ3, but on-topic for this thread...

On the radio I heard that Britney Spear's house was broken into and of the items stolen was videos of her with the N'Sync or Backstreet Boy or whatever his name is involved in "intimate moments" Anyone seen anything on the internet yet about this?

Britney Spear's is one of the rare breed of musicians who should be seen and not heard And this is a video I definitely want to see (finally get proof she's not the sweet virgin she claims)

Huh? Don't get it.

I'm actually checking Morpheus right now, doesn't appear like its hit the internet yet. The crook is probably negotiating with BabylonX for money. A video like that could easily fetch extra beer money

As long as it does not involve Computer Music composition algorithms or change the background music to John Cage's "4:33", I'm cool with it.

The Music Theory tech looked pretty early in the tech tree, so I don't think that will be a problem squid.

Actually, J.S. (the man) Bach has been reigning supreme for over 250 years.

Sometimes, if they're drunk and happy, the waitresses at the bar across the street will strip to Britney. In my book, that makes it good music.

BTW music theory advance... yummy

Serapis, after what I have heard, the thief was arrested only a short time after the event, and all the stolen thing was found. (maybe I should have used ! )

And then on-topic: I also like this new advance, does anybody know if it helps on your culture score, and, if so: how?

Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, The Beatles, Abba; all those have done much for the western culture, especially the first!

BTW, Britney is an excellent example of music nowadays. She needs to be looked at, but she'd better dance there, and keep her mouth shut, for she isn't singing properly! She should better be an actress. In porn films . Actually, this all also shows proffesionality of some people in her team. They took a 16 year old nice girl and made her a star. There are many nice 16 year old girls lying around, some of them might be nicer than Britney. And many of them certainly sing better. But, the proffesionals in her team made her a start. However, she really annoys me - when I'm browsing some hacking sites, each 15 seconds I have a Britney XXX window pop up. Damn it, she's now the leader of Internet Porn Banner Association, I bet .

And finally, music isn't quite a 'tech', as for the original topic of this thread.

Webster defines 'tech' (technology) as:

1 a : the practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area : ENGINEERING 2 b : a capability given by the practical application of knowledge
2 : a manner of accomplishing a task especially using technical processes, methods, or knowledge
3 : the specialized aspects of a particular field of endeavor

So even though tech is often thought of as electrical and mechanical devices, by the purest definition of the word, it really encompasses a whole lot more.

[I really just wanted to look up the word for myself after what you said Solver, but thought it would be interesting to share this too.]
