civ3 and Windows XP
From what i've read about XP, it should be able to handle about anything. .
. . but my question is, has Firaxis had the opportunity to text civ3 on an XP machine, even though XP hasn't been released yet? maybe you guys got a beta version or something to aid you in developing games, i don't know if things work like that or not.
also, how about the possiblity of running civ3 using a windows emulator under Linux. . possible? attempted? this is something i'd be interested in trying out. .

Great question, I know some people who are having
difficulty running SMAC on XP, so they need to test this. I can't imagine they'd be that careless, but I would have thought NASA could tell the difference between foot-pounds and newtons, too.
...and I'm getting a new system with XP on it next week

I don't know anything for sure, of course, but XP is supposed to be very similar to 2000. They are developing civ3 in windows 2000, so I don't see any problems.

bah, latest news is that Microsoft Money2001 doesn't even work on XP. They might claim it's backwards compatible with everything under the sun but we all know there's a lot of going-ons at Microsloth that does not bear sunlight...

Good question...wish I had thought of it..wait a minute I did but I never thought to post it...
Reading some of the posts I have doubts now. I will be getting a new system in the new year most likely with XP as the OS. If it doesn't run Civ3 (presuming that it kicks ass. Who am I kidding I'd probably buy it if it was worse than CTP1 or 2) I would probably ask for 98 SE to be installed instead. Of course that may not be an option.....
