Have to get this off my chest...
When will people stop talking about what units should be in civ that aren't there? It's pointless, why don't people just contemplate how they can make their own civs, instead of whining and complaining about whether Spain or the Arabs made the cut?

To all those people who are making plans to make their own civs, this doesn't apply to you. I'm simply talking about the people who debate endlessly about why such and such a country should or should not be included.

Felch, in the absence of new information all that's left is commentary. Ask CNN.

Yeah, we just love repeating: "The Iroquois have no right to be in when spanish are not." or: "But I want the greek hoplite be renamed into phalanx." etc. I do that all the time and won't get tired. Oh, how beautiful lamentation can be...

I bet this is going to turn into a "My civ's BETTER!" "Is NOT!" brawl... I do agree, though. If you want a civ talk about how you're going to make it.

Well, even people who have their country included in the game are complaining.

English or British, for example?

By customizing, I will ensure that it is the English!!!

Yes, one shouldn't just complain, one should get to modding. One thing I intend to do is replace doofus animated leaders with photos and paintings (not to mention replace the leaders). Hopefully pictures that accord better with the feel of the rest of the game's art. Until then, I will continue to point out the bad art. But I do thank Firaxis for the ability to rid the game of that stuff.

Well, the Iroquois are in for political correctness; Zulus are in for geographical completeness (apparently), although a S American civ would have made more sense with that reasoning. Incans would be the obvious choice.

The Zulus are in for two reasons: (a) They needed and african Civ, and the Zulus are pretty well-known, and (b) They wanted an extremely militaristic civ that would conquer a lot, early, because of the new policy of trying to create as many unique and interesting civs as possible. The Zulus are, with the possible exception of the ancient Spartans, the most thoroughly militarised society in the history of the world. Shaka's "Age Regiment" policy where all boys of a certain age would be worked together as a regiment from early childhood combined with the massive amount of military training and discipline makes them one of History's most interesting and exotic cultures, IMO.

it's still a shame that they wasted one slot on iroquese. except in the rare cases when a little window pops out 'american civilization has been destroyed by the iroquese'

El Awrence -
I'll probably be adding Argentina to my game (with a respectable leader I should add ). What would a good unique unit be?

Also, to any Canadians in the audience, what would be a good Canadian unique unit be?

WWI-era improved rifleman. Impervious to gas attacks due to its special "urinate on hankerchief" ability.

Seriously, though, an improved rifleman would be good. Canadians were used as shock troops through a large part of the war, known as "Canada's Hundred Days".

Well, you could always use a good cavalry unit from the 1880s period during the time of the last Indian Wars. They were the best cavalry units in Latin America with their modern weaponry and superior training.

Whatever the Candian UU its special ability should be to burn down a city, but only if it is the capital, and of the American civ.

Because pre-made civs will have fancy leader animations etc, it won't quite be the same to use some Viking leader drawing as replacement... Likewise it will be aestetichally inconvenient.
