A question about that Epoch stuff...

I'm currently working on the tech tree for my second scenario and while doing that I was wondering if the Epoch that a tech is asigned to has any influence on the time needed to research it.
So, does anyone know?

The epoch has nothing to do with time, it's just a picture to go along with the advance. The time it takes for you to research something depends on how many advances you already have, and your output of beakers. Don't ask me for the specifics
