coordinated joint attacks
hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew if AI dealings in Civ3 included a way to coordinate attacks with allies, much like it was done in one of those gold civ2 editions.
Or is this going to be another cool feature we'll have to do on our own?

Probably, as it was there in SMAC. Not having it in civ 3 would definitely be a step back.

agreed, there was a vague agreement to mass forces near an enemy city and attack it, hopefully it will be improved on

That would be really cool. Whenever you team up with the AI (which was quite hard in my opion, they always hated me) they just seemed to sit back and do nothing.
The only player the AI would attack seemed to be me. It was really annoying. Even when i was really nice to one player they wouldn't be friends with me.
Another thing that annoyed me was how the computer knew of past-aggressions against other civs that they haven't even had contact with yet

Somewhere I read that in civ 3, opposing civ's will have better reasons for declaring war than just because they don't like you, as was the case in civ 2 when you were the best. It was somewhat like this in SMAC. Opposing factions would ally against you not just because you were #1, but more likely because your ideology threatens theirs or your allies ideology does.

I hated when all the AI's would ally against me and I was forced to kill them all. I'm really a nice Emperor but I had to retaliate because anyone who didn't stand with me stood with terror...
hmmm deja vu

Hey I tried something on Diety mode once, just to see what would happen. Ok, so I'm chuggin' along, and *poof!* cheat moded myself oodles of gold and tech goodies, and then, instead of destroying my opponents, I gave it all away in a *humble* attempt to make allies with as many civs as I could, maybe even winning the game without a war...
[keep in mind this was really early in the game so most of them hadn't even contacted each other yet.]
About 20 turns later all I had was 6 Icy enemies, no wonders that the AI didn't build, and hordes of invasions...
About 5 turns later I had 100 nukes or so.
About one turn later I won.
One would think that giving an AI civ lots of stuff would make them not want to kill you....
just a thought.
