Do you get the feeling the bugs were rushed?
We felt when it went into beta, and we felt a few times where they changed things at the last minute (like unique unit abilities) to balance the game, and these things happened just the other day.
And now it's gone gold, just like that, doesn't that seem a bit quick? or am I being a pain?

You are being the ultimate pessimist. Try to think on the positive side, if you expect the game to be bugy you're going to spend all your playing time nit picking and not having any fun, which is THE reason for having the game in your possesion in the first place.

Well the proof is in the pudding. The turnaround has actually been quite efficient, but then again, it is a good sign that there haven't been any complications holding back the release. Perhaps
Mind you, this thing has been under development for a long time, so I am sure that they must have managed to iron stuff out at they have gone along as well...

CivIII has been in development for at least 2 years that I know of, and probably even longer than that.
But of course, I hope that Firaxis isn't doing the 'mainstream' thing and releasing a buggy game. I mean, some bugs will happen, but I am talking about glaring errors in the program.

Exactly: I think the bugs were given plenty of time to be perfectly buggy.

Jokes aside :
Coding bugs and game balance are quite different, altering UU stats shouldn't introduce any new bugs (indeed, couldn't introduce bugs if the engine has been done right).
However the possibility of poor balance is quite possible. The UU's will probably be modified in a patch after it's been discovered that Civ X's UU is overpowered and Civ Y's is as good as useless. Altough I expect any modifications to be minor, the overall balance should be pretty good.

I guess that if there were still any known bugs they would't have gone gold early.

We all had this big arguement when we learned that there would be no large scale open or closed beta. This is the advantage - it can be done quickly with a minimum of fuss and bother. The downside is there is less chance that every bug, exploit, unbalancing strategy or AI flaw has been located, evaluated and fixed. Only when we get the game will we know if they judged it correctly or too many slipped through the net while they ripped out multiplayer in their attempt to meet a pre-christmas deadline.

Well, to be honest, I think I would rather get the game sooner and let them patch it up as we go. Hmm, this is always a hard call though, because if the game is TOO buggy, it ruins the whole experience.
They should have done a limited public beta though.

That's Activision style, except they decide to pull support too soon (and still sell the game, cheeky sods.) It's way too late for second-guessing Firaxis but I do feel the game has gone gold prematurely after such a short beta and the removal of MP support from the original product. That visible evidence of being willing to cut corners to achieve deadlines implies to me that many other features may have been left out not because they proved bad for gameplay but would require additional coding, testing and support.
The Sid Golf interview certainly shows that his fingers seem to be in lots of other pies, implying a less than wholehearted devotion to Civ III. Had the Dino staff pitched in with Civ before they turned their hands to his (then) latest brainchild perhaps more could have been achieved even in the ambitious timescale. The staff devoted to Civ have undoubtedly been flogging their guts out to produce the best game possible. I don't want to detract from their achievements but I just think they could have done with more support.

I hope there are no bugs in the game But the beta testing did seem to go very quick.
Any way my only real fear is that the games AI is to easy e.g CTP2 that realy ****ed up that game.
So I just hope they havn't rushed it.
