Don't you just love these cheese and whine evenings?
Well sometimes I get the distinct impression that there is going to be less tolerance with certain people on these forums. However I suppose they have made a rod for their back on the other hand. AH and his trolls and Lancer and his penchant for his brother's as<x>s

Ming- I wasn't complaining, I was asking a question? Will you please answer it?
And AH- I think he closed that not because it was spam, but because it was a hate thread.

Sigh... one more time...
It is still against the rules to spam. Yes, posts in the OTF no longer count toward your post count, but the OTF was never meant to be a spam fest of silly one word responses or totally meaningless threads. It was meant as a place of "DISCUSSION" for non game related subjects. And Yes, spam clutters up the OTF and makes it difficult to hold a "Discussion"...
Granted, over time, more than just discussions occur. It also serves as a place to continue your friendships (or rivalries) with other members while waiting for the release of new games... like CivIII.
If all you want to do is post one word responses, or start threads on totally meaningless subjects, there are more than enough other places you can do just that. While the OTF was never intended for ONLY serious discussions... it is still meant for DISCUSSIONS!
Now, spam is a matter of opinion. And people will always disagree on what is or what isn't spam (for some, the definition of spam is "anything not posted by them" )
So we do the best we can... Now, a lot of it continues because we can never catch it all... but when we see what we "think" is spam, we act on it. The OTF is a much nicer place without it.
Again, if you want to post at a site full of spam and nonsense, there are other great places you can visit and enjoy.
This is a gaming site first... and the OTF is provided for non game discussions... not spam.

As for the rivalries.....nice to see that Lancer and AH have buried the hatchet. Now the question remains as to whose back in rest in
nice to see you back GP

Isn't it ironic how this has become a spam thread
I would very much doubt AH and Lancer are on the same side, just that they are antagonistic towards each other because they are similar in nature. Actually I find Lancer a lot easier going though, AH is a tough cookie...

So you think discussing the value of Afghan lives is meaningless?
BAH! Spam is whatever you think it is. That's the bottom line.
We are at the mercy of Ming's petite bourgeois suburban Middle American tastes. Not quite a fate worse than death but close

Yeah... why let facts get in the way of your trolls. As I stated in the other thread you whined in... If you had done it in a serious manner, it would have been fine... but you didn't.
Your "Poll responses" were a farce at best. And the spam had already started before I trashed it.
Also, I mentioned that a thread on that subject had already been done, and it hadn't been closed...
So cram it horsey... You are sounding more and more like a whiney 5 year old

The "farce" that you speak of was drawn directly from posts from certain people. I imagine you think the "all lives have equal value" option was farcical as well

Now horsey... let's review your "serious" choices one last time for the record:
Quote:
|
No, all lives are of equal value
No, but a life from my country is more valuable than either an Afghan or an American
Yes, of course American lives are more valuable than those people, we're an advanced Christian country, loved by God
Yes, we're number one and we have the weapons to prove it
USA! USA! USA!
I don't know, I'll get back to you shortly, can I phone a friend?
|
Serious... surely you jest!
HA HA HA HA
If you had stopped with the first two... but no, you didn't...
So feel free to continue you campaign of misdirection... I'll stick with the simple facts

My point exactly - but Ming wouldn't see that of course beacuse he's hardly ever around - that's why he has to close a few threads randomly now and then.
The Choices were a clear basis for a discussion. I would have liked to have seen people justify what they had been saying for weeks. I could put a few other names up against each of the choices.

Those choices were a bit spammy, but so what? It's a serious subject. It's not a spam only thread. Though it's a bit of a troll, everyone that posts anything controvercial is trolling someone, looking to get a discussion going.
I guess I just don't see who it hurts.
Btw, I'll go w/ USA! USA! USA!
I refuse to get my ire up like you guys. AH, like I said before this is going to get you nowhere. What are you trying to accomplish? Just expressing your concerns is the best you can do. Be polite and that's what you'll get back...along w/ some consideration of your views and maybe a bit of a break next time. Relax...have a smoke.
