What are the 3 BEST D&D style games available(on a Windows platform)?

I'm newly intersted in D&D style games and haven't been able to get any real solid leads as to what to look for in the genre of games. I'm intersted to hear any and all information about these types of games, though those with a detailed graphical interface will rank higher in my opinion. Thanks in advance.

I'd have to say Baldur's Gate I and II, and Planescape Torment.

All 3 are 3rd person perspective with intricate story lines and good D&D character development. Check out the reviews at www.gamespot.com

obviously the Baldur's Gate series is a must, and I haven't played the others, but I assume that it's a safe bet that other black isle RPGs are also excellent. (Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale, and maybe some others I don't know about)
