Preferences and DirectPlay
I've a big problem.

Using DirectPlay multiplayer (TCP or modem or serial), some preferences don't work (i.e. "Confirm odds before attacking.", don't "Move all units quickly.").

Is it a known problem? How can i solve it?

Thanx

This is known, it is an intended feature, and you cant 'solve' it.
And the automatic "investigate monolith".

It seems that the programmers were "considerate" enough to automatically force-enable every speed enhancing (ITHO) feature.
This is fine for things like fast battles, because it speeds up gameplay and stops some weaner from slowing the game for everyone by insisting on pretty animations.
It sucks for things like unit workshop, because you end up spending more time fighting the auto-design feature than it would have taken to design and obsolete just the units you want.

There is nothing you can do to change these behaivours, you just have to live with it. Thankfully it isn't unfair - in the sense that all players will be messed around equally by the automations.
It's not really a big problem, just a little disconcerting at first.
