civ-specific diplomatic text?
In the last apolyton column the writer made a passing reference that EACH civ had UNIQUE text in diplomatic exchanges.

Where did they get this information? If it is really true, then I am really excited because it means even greater differentiation and character for each civ, instead of every single civ saying the exact same thing and reinforcing the all-civs-are-the-same syndrome of civ2.

If this is NOT true, I really hope the editor allows the user at least to customize text for each civ, so if the developers didn't go through the trouble of distinguishing Elizabeth from Joan of Arc, at least the players can! And if the editor doesn't allow this, please put it in a patch...!

Anyway, let me know if anyone can confirm this.

P.S. I saw those new 'old' screenshots... Geez.. Cleopatra in a bonnet looks ridiculous, but oh well. I wish they had something more "egyptian."
