Use of airspace agreements?
Has anyone from Firaxis said anything about the allowance of use of airspace agreements via diplomatic negotiations? It would be more limiting than a right of passage agreement because it would only allow air units through the Civ in question's territory. I dunno, I thought it sounded like a cool idea...

sounds good, but it might easily be another one of the things that the AI can't handle.

Its a real good idea. I doubt its in but maybe if its not it wouldnt be hard to add in a patch. In these days and times airspace rights are being shown to be needed in the real world.

Why would this operate any differently from ground units or sea units. I think that the same arrangements that apply to those units would also be applicable to air units.

What hes talking about is allowing overflight to hit something not move a unit. It would be one thing to let people pass on through on the way a jumping off point, its something else to be in the middle.

Yes it's such a lovely agreement isn't it.

Let us use your airspace or we'll bomb you too, extend the economic sanctions, and sleep with your biggest enemy instead of you. Wow aren't we great people.

Sorry of topic. It would be nice if this was in the game. If a civ can't have troops in your boders they shouldn't be able to use your airspace either. Though if air units are implemented as areas of control as it sounds, then the game could just make sure to exclude such areas, and not allow zones of control to extend through not-allowed territory.

Its called dealing with the bigger threat first. Smartest thing you can do. And we havnt threatend any of the countries we're using with bombing if they dont play ball.

Air units do not function like they do in Civ II. I'm assuming that under the new model, you won't be allowed to do air missions in another civ's territory unless you have a right of passage agreement (although I'm not sure why you would want to) or if you're at war.

You must admit as Kissinger once said "From a real-politic point of view this idea has merit". Such arguments can be very persuasive.
