Given the MP situation and few other things, I am waiting to buy the game until a 'complete' package is available.

I am not a big multiplayer fan, so I will/do not buy the game in anticapation of a multiplayer patch. It is not a major issue for me.

MP isn't an issue for me either but me laughs at all these people saying they won't buy Civ3 until MP is included. As soon as MP is available they are gonna get there asses kicked by people who have been playing SP for months

Right on, typo!
i think if thyere doing it for the principle of not having the complete game, ala yin, i respect that, but its really not goign to make one bit of difference. It is a moot point. As for those who complet++++dismiss the possibility of having fun with the AI, theyre just stupid.
I think the three that posted are three of about a hundred people in the world that will not buy the game because of mP. Firaxis has nothing to worry about.

Err....A mediocre mp player who has lots of experience playing with other people will beat a good sp player whos never played mp before. Trust me, its a totally different game. Sh1t you can get away with against the computer won't work against a real person.
When I first started playing MP, i thought I was going to walk on people. I was maxing out everything against the AI. Crushing them under my boot. Well I got humbled REAL FAST when I started playing against mp players who were experienced.
The people that will have an edge in mp are the people who are veterans of mp in civ2. Someone whos never played mp, will not.

personally, i play for fun and don't worry about whether or not my ass is going to be kicked (otherwise i would never bother playing rah, war4, bird and the others of that group)
in civ2 i learned more during my first month of MP play than i had in all of the time i played sp (about 2 years). i don't think civ3 will be much different in this particular case.

I'm going buy Civ3 the moment the game comes out. If there is a free multiplayer patch i'll probably download it and try it out. If you have to pay for a "gold" version i probably take a pass(never bought any of the so called expasion pack for civ, civ2, and smac).
And if the game sucks then i probably will be more careful buying the next Sid game(like those bastard who made ctp1, ctp1.1, you may have fooled me with ctp but not getting my money for that patch disguised a sequel).

A letter to CIV3-team : When will Civ3 be released in Europe
Some of us don't have access to buy the limited edition and there has bin rumours
about a DVD-edition (maybe for Britain ?) , a wish I have expressed at an earlier
letter . Will there be different editions and will You publish a free multi-player-patch
for all who submit their game-serialnumber or something like that ???
There is a poll about people buying your game in the expectancy of a MP-patch at
Apolyton and a big discussion about this side of the game ; some even talk about
online-worlds ...
Hope you can clear some of this stuff up . Your answer will be posted at Apolyton .
Hope we see it in Denmark too at the same time as the rest of Europe !!!
Many Regards

Online worlds is a pretty cool idea. Just supposing for a moment that it happens,
how should it be implmented? Prehaps a really big map of the world with about 50 civs,
which are controlled by Humans, or AI's

This depends on what civ 3 mp is like. May well turn out to be a very different kettle of fish...
