Problems with Fantastic Worlds
Help! I've been making scenarios with the editor option presented with the Fantastic Worlds add-on. However, it seems to have a few bugs that make it almost useless and too time consuming. After only a few minutes of editing all the names for various parts of the game (units, governments, tiles, resources, tribes) all shift and down two, resulting in a Pikeman being called an archer, a settler being called Cure for Cancer, and Anarchy being called Fish. All the names shift and it has become a pain to readjust. Is there a patch that fixes this, or is it something wrong with me or my PC? Please give me all your thoughts because I'm stumped. If you have any other questions about it please ask me. Thanks for your time.

Don't use the editing tools for anything other than importing pictures of units/improvements/whatever - its next to useless IMO

I'm sorry to tell you, however, there is no patch that I know of to fix this problem.
It's a common bug with FW. You will have to use the old fashioned way for most of your creative work.

If you want to use the editors, get Ultimate Civ II. The editors are rock-steady on that; almost all the bugs have been ironed out. However, Ultimate Civ II scenarios won`t work with FW.

Sadly, this ALWAYS happens. Don't use the in-game editors on units at all if you can help it; change the .txt files with a text editor instead.

First, thanks to everyone for their replies. Now, I think I've discovered how to use the editors and still save the rules.txt from being mauled. If you only use one editor per session it seems to not bug out. I've only done this for about two days now, and I do have a backup copy of my work, but it is working out so far.

Mind you, there is one function that the Civ editors do, which I have so far been unable to replicate on Paint Shop Pro. This is the ability to alter certain units' colors: most specifically, the ability to pick out all pixels with color A and automatically replace them with chosen color B.
If anybody out there knows how to swing this trick with PSP, then drop me a line and you'll get a nice thank you and perhaps other things besides.

It is possible to do that with Paint Brush!
Just use the pinzet, leftclick on the color you want to replace, then rightclick on the color you want to put in instead.
Next use the erase and go over all the areas you want to change holding the right mousebutton down all the time.
-> Bingo! Done.

Hendrik: Thanks a lot! I'll be trying that out shortly. As for sending you something nicer, I don't have your email address, so... [wink wink] it'll have to be another time.
