Civ3 dot com conquers the world
I assume most of you have moseyed on over there to see the new civ of the week feature ( the zulus btw )
In case you missed it though I've attached the screen shot of the week below with an image that will reassure some players and annoy others.
The world map IS in it, but it's on more or less the same scale as the last one it seems. Hell I liked the last one, but all those calling for something bigger are in for a dissapointment.
[ http://www.civ3.com/civ3.cfm] go to civ of the week.
( Also it would appear that borders are shown of civs even if you haven't seen any of their cities. )

Two things.
Dan said there are two world maps. A 100x100 and a 180x180. This is probably the smaller of the two. Also, Dan said he cheated somehow (I thought cheating was out) to show us all the things in the screen he wanted to show, and that's why you see the borders.

Dan uses a debug version of the game. That's why he's able to cheat.
Why don't you send me a copy of the debug version Dan? I'll give you a pop tart.

What would be the point in not making a world map?
Honestly I don't understand why you ever thought it was out. The world map was in civ1 and civ2 why shouldn't it be in civ3.

Because CtP on the Mac did not ship with a world map. Plenty of world maps for CtP to download here at Apolyton. Don't know if they even work on our Mac's though.
(I sure wish all those CtP mods somehow worked on the Mac CtP. )

Is anyone else reminded of XCom 1 from this map??
And for those too lazy to go to Civ3, heres the relevant quote:

Yes, Civ III will be shipping with two world maps. One is a "normal" sized map (100 x 100), and the other is a "Huge" map (180 x 180). Don't believe us? Try this on for size:

CtP2 shipped with a world map. I don't believe CtP1 did.

Ahem..... world map YEEEEESS
What CTP2 shipped with was a badly drawn tiny map of the world in the form of a save game.
This meant you could only go as the americans.
Of course you could always say 'start a new game using this map' but then you loose all the starting locations.

The quality of the user-made maps eventually reached a stage in which they were infinitely superior to the Civ2-standard world maps. I think we'll see history repeat itself.
