World map hasn't got New Zealand in it, why?
If you look closely at both versions of the world map, you'll notice there is no NZ map, tho I think there is a tiny wee one square? piece of land, I'm not sure, either way, isn't this so ridiculous and wrong? If you're gonna do this, why didn't you take out Japan, Madagascar, all of UK aswell? our land is bigger than all of them!
and we are NOT AUSTRALIA, is Canada America? is Japan China?

You can always open the world map in the editor and put it in.
As to why NZ isn't in the default world map- only Firaxis could tell you that.

Newfoundland is smaller than New Zealand so I guess we're not on the map either. *sigh* It's okay - as long as there's space in Korea for a couple of cities.

AAAA pet sheep!!! L L - I used to eat them in my native land. Which brings me neatly to my point. I hope Iceland is a tiny bit correctly located this time!

to be serious though, something the size of New Zealand being put on the world map would be nothing more than a shipping navigational hazard.
okay, not that serious

Is New Zealand that important for you?
Well, if you live there, then it's understandable.
Perhaps I should agree with you.

No no, New Zealand couldn't be a shipping navigation hazard because ships have no reason to come down here!
I for one will not be bothered if New Zealand isn't on the 'Small world map', but I hope it gets atleast half a dozen tiles in the 'Big world map. Not as if the southern oceans are overcrowded with countries...

Ras, how would you feel if they put a big ocean right where Finland is?
It's not a terrible thing, but it's not good either, we're an advanced country

New Zealand an advanced country?
Could someone confirm this independently?

How many New Zealand tiles would be fair?
(nerd mode)
I just did some calculations to find out what would be fair.
The total surface area of the Earth is 510,000,000 km^2.
The land area of New Zealand is 268,670 km^2.
This means that NZ occupies 1/1898th part of the globe. (BTW: it ranks 75th in the list of countries.)
So on a 10,000 tiles map (100x100), NZ would be entitled to 5.27 tiles. Because of the distorted projection (remember how Greenland seems much bigger on world maps than it really is), 6 or even 7 tiles seems reasonable.
On a 32,400 tiles map (180x180), the outcome would be 17.07 tiles. For the abovementioned reason, anything up to 20 tiles would seem reasonable.
Edit: An additional reason why more than 5 (or 17) tiles would be reasonable, is the fact that huge parts of the globe -- the polar areas -- are left out, or so I suppose.
