uk release, october the 30 to 35
all the magazines say november but if it is availiable from the 30th the shops will be desperate to get it in so a day or so later at max, or is it, is it allready here in uk by 30th, or is there a two week long shipping over the atlantic?, or will it be on the day, the 30th?
i'm confused.

OK, here is what we know. Civ3 comes out in the US on the 30th. It will also be available to UK retailers from that date too. However, tradition (or something) means games are released in the UK on Fridays. The next Friday after the 30th is 2nd Nov. So hopefully Civ3 will be out then.
However, it may take time to get enough/make enough copies for the UK for then, so most Shops/Game sites suggest 16th Nov as a likely release date.
So either the 2nd or 16th of Novemeber depending on distribution.

I pessimistically think that it'll be the 16th in the UK.

But they don't know when the online retailers will release the game, and they vary between the 30th October and 28th December right now.
Not very good is it.

Well so long as I'm getting SOME kind of benifit from PREORDERING it online.
I'm saying PREORDERING like that because I always feel PREORDERING implies you getting it in advance.
Game (EB) was calling for November the 17th when I went in.
I want it before theeeeeeeeeeen!
Are infro saying RETAIL release or whan their ETA for stockists ( i.e certain online ordering bodies ) is?

They say for everyone, full stop. Actually, since the game is coming out on Friday 16th, I think pre-ordering may mean the game won't come till the middle of the week after while it'll be in the shops on Saturday. I've never got anything earlier from an online/mail order retailer faster than it was in the shops.

Re: uk release, october the 30 to 35
Is 'october 35' a joke, or is CivIII slowly getting us insane?

lol I went to this thread cause I though that was what someone, either at Firaxis, a retailer or a certain online ordering site named after a tribal people had said.
It is rather like Amazon or Best Buy to turn round and tell you that they have recieved new information that it will be released some time between the 30 and the 35 of October isn't it

Agreed. I have the full game and it's great, but i'm stuck in level 7. Damn helicopters.
Civ3? I'll order it soon. It will be really annoying to see all these Americans playing Civ while we will be posting in the forums.

Hello all, my first post here (I am a long time Civ player though)
I work for EB in the UK, and as far asI know the release date is 16th November. Other posters were quite right to point out the UK practice of releasing games on a Friday.
I doubt we will actually get any copies sent to us before the 13th, but it has happened that we've recieved games a week or so before they are due. Unfortunetly, there is now way it will be released before the official date - the consequences are to great for the shop concered.
Hope this sheds some light on the issue.

Im guessing that if is does arrive at your store before the release date, a copy of Civ 3 will somehow get onto your computer early

I say trust Infogrames UK. They are the publishers after all. Everything else is second-hand information, and may be distorted.
November 16th seems probable.

Of course, because you see we are allowed to borrow games for a few days to try them out. Strictly for product knowledge purposes you understand!

I preordered my copy at EB a couple of weeks ago, and was quoted the 16th then.
When I got home, I took a look at the EB store on Sky Digital, and they were quoting a date somewhere around the 8th November (I forget when exactly).
Anyone in the UK near a Sky box at the moment, who could take a look?

Not sure about the Sky thing, but the EB website also quotes 16th November. Click below:

What's wrong with ordering it from Amazon.com?
Assuming it arrives on the 30th October + 4 days for shipping = possible UK date 3rd November
..or won't Amazon.com sell to Uk customers
