An example of things to come in Civ3-Strategy
Most of my 1000+ posts have been in the Civ2-Strategy forum and I consider many of the regulars there to be among the best strategy gamers around. I really hope that they can become the core of the Civ3-Strategy discussion forum for their analytical insights will be prove valuable to the community.
If you want an example of what I expect a typical Civ3-Strategy thread could be, look here....

I'll be damned! Those are a whole different bunch of googles, if I may say so!
There was this thing on writing a paper on something or other. Is it possible to get a phd in Civ, and if so, do you need to re-educate yourself whenever a new Civ comes out? If yes, isn't it a bit of a bore when Activision gets busy?

Very possibly, but I hope civ3 draws new people out, and newbies show up and can contribute as much or more than the best civ2 vets. remember, strategy wise, this is a completly new game, so we're all starting off on an equal footing, and we can all contribute equally. .
But yes, i agree, the folks in civ2 strategy are literally geniuses when it comes to civ2 strategy.

I seem to be something of a Civ-guru amongst my friends, but compared to this people... I am but a casual bystander, having problems rembering the name of the product.

Geek alert! Geek alert! Move up to DEFCON 5!
Bloody hell, just play the damn game. It must get damn boring when you are farting over every little piece of minutiae...it's a game, it's there for fun!

I know what you mean, earthling. When I join that community in 1999, I thought Xin Yu was a god. Now I believe he's more than that with others taking up the 'god' mantle.

"hear hear"
I don't think anybody is a god on this site, but I do appreciate the talent of some.

We all are in a way, max (except for PH ), that's why civ is called a 'god' game.
I, too, appreciate and respect their talents, even though I have not participated in analyses like that in a long time. (No, really, Xin is not of this world. Just check out his many analyses of Captain Nemo's Second Front.) The same is true for scenarios. I love scenarios and think they are the best feature of a civ game. But I love to play them, not build them and therefore, I have a tremendous respect for those that can take the time to create something for others to enjoy.

The only thing I could understand about that was that it was posted on the same day as my birthday. And yes, I am sad.

Hmmm.....
Is that the formula used in the game? If so could they not just get it out the program somewhere or ask someone from the development team.
If that ISN'T the formula for the game then...... I'm afraid..... very, very, very afraid.
