Get slapped up the side of the head for ignoring a significant other.

I think I might need to spread the word to my significant other. If she gets into playing Civ3, then we can understand each other. Now she jusk gives me querky smiles every time I mention Civ3, which happens regularly.
I did manage to get her to play one or two games of Civ2 some months ago, but she's more into RTS and Caesar/Pharaoh/Zeus kind of stuff. But she did watch the pre-order video with me and laughed at the one-more-turn syndrome and the "we ruined your life again" remark.
Good signs altogether.

Mines started saying "You and your bloody Civ " whenever i mention it, which is generally every time i see her, but my plan is to introduce her to Civ 2... And get her addicted too
(what, ill only have one Civ 3 cd...)

Probably watch the video included in
the BTE and read the developers' remarks book.
Or then I just continue to play.

Although I look forward to user-added content, most likely by the time I finish a few games, there either won't be anything good worth downloading and playing.

I appreciate all of the posters who, like me, are having to factor their "significant other(s)" into their response.
For me, Civ has always had its greatest appeal as a single-player game that will "play with me" when noone else wants to play. Late night. Early morning.
So, the delay in multi-player has had no impact on my plans. However, as more and more details surface it looks (at least to me) more and more like Sid and company have once instilled that "just one more turn" magic into their game. Which means I will end up staying up later and getting up earlier, to squeeze in just a little more game time before all of the other responsibilities in my life come knocking at the door.
I can hardly wait.

Once I've played a few games, then I'll play more as there look to be a lot of ways to play this game.
Some of the other groups I'm in are already looking to suffer a slowdown in participation as soon as Civ3 is released. Funny that.

Well, i hope your first few games take until spring, no MP with the current Civ3 release. It'll most likely be part of an expansion later in the spring 2002, doubt it'll be a simple patch.
