Number of Cities?

Just wondering is there a limit to the number of cities you could build? How many cities have you built before?

The game limit is 255 total cities.

Thanks! What happens after 255? Won't let you build anymore, or game goes crazy? I know if you get a city pop about 127 it goes bezerk, but if you build more than 255 of one kind of unit it will just start the count over again. I am at 120 cities, so I am almost halfway
