DX8 concerns again

I still hear that DX8 does not always work, and once you install it there is no going back to DX7.

My question is, do you think CIV3 will run on DX7? Some games include a download for DX8 like Civ3, but will still run on the DX7 that is on the computer.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

The key is to make sure you have the latest graphics driver for your video card.
