November 6!!? It could be worse, i suppose , but why not October like the Yanks? If they can do it at the same time with other games, why not Civ3? I'm getting married 12 days after release, so i guess it's playing-Civ3-like-fury-before-the-ball-and-chain-keeps-me-away-from-my-beloved-Civ3!!

November 6. Melbourne Cup Day. At least I get the day off for the race so I can play CIV3 the day it comes out. That is, if it is released on that day.
When the release date is more certain, I'm going to take a week or two off work so I can play CIV3. But if I apply for the time off too late, I may not get it ... and if I apply too early, I might get the wrong week if the release is delayed.
Oh, the dilemmas....

You do have one chance. Get the fiancee hooked on CIV so you and her can spend your honeymoon playing CIV3 multiplayer. Pity that's not likely to work.

I guess i cant complain too much about the release date... At least it gives me the chance to pass my subjects in uni this semester
What does suck tho is that the Limited Edition (more than likely) will be delayed in coming here as with the European release... And i want that tin!!
Guess ill be ordering it anyways from US

My curiosity has been aroused by another thread. So, how much is Civ3 gonna cost in Oz? Amazon has it for USD44.99, so i guess it's going to be around AUD89.99? However, the "How much will it cost" (whatever) thread suggests that Civ3 is going to be very expensive.
Of course, 90 bucks is already steep, but we've come to expect it in Australia, but if it's significantly more, it will be a problem

rofl - shillings!!! We actually have a decimal dollar system in Australia these days Saddam! Have had so since about the 70's (I think - I'm not totally sure, because it was before I was born!)
Anyway, I never really realised how many Aussies were on this board!!
Nov6 is good for me - I finish my final exams about 3 days later - can't wait. I expect we'll be paying between $90 and $100 AU for the game. The Lmiited Edition may not even ever make it here!

Zanzin:
1966 was the start of Australian decimal currency.
Don't you guys hate how a new game in Australia costs at least $80? I think it's the biggest ripoff! Especially since the games get imported at a cost of $42 AUS. That's a markup of 100%!!!!!

Thanks Dale....that's 17 years before I was born, so forgive me for not knowing exactly!!
As for the cost, yeah it sux, but what are you going to do....order it from on overseas site, pay $20 on postage and handling, and still suffer the conversion rate cost....it'd probably wind up costing you about $100 - $110....$20 more than what you'd pay for the game normally!!! So, sadly, there looks to be no end to our monetary suffering!!
Quick, all you US investors, sell out the greenback (I heard it's in for a tumble ) buy up Australian dollars quickly - they're always solid and profitable!
.....Now, everyone will jump on the back of a message posted on the internet and accept it as complete truth, the Aussie goes up - I buy Cvi3 from amazon.com for about $40 dollars AU and I get civ3 half price and...OH, that's right, the internet bubble burst and no one pays attention to what people say on the internet anymore. oh well, damn.

November 6th, eh? * Does some quick calculations *
That would make it late December in Tassie then ...oh, hang on. The brilliance of internet ordering.
Hmmm, bugger the local trader...I'm preordering from the mainland.

I was in EB last Friday, and I asked after the CIV3 release date. I was given the date of the 19th of November. Damn, the date's slipped 2 weeks. It's clear that Oz gets CIV3 about three weeks after the U.S.
They have CIV3 in the latest print catalogue though for $89.95. The Limited Edition is also being advertised there as an "EB Exclusive" for $109.95.
MoO2 is not listed as being included in the Limited Edition box contents.
