Australian release date 16 or 2Oth of Nov!
EB in Australia has it for the 20th of November.
Harvey Normal, Myers etc and big department store for the 16th.
Truly games are very late being released here, I was in Hawaii last month and saw about 10 games that took an extra 6 weeks before they came out.
Bring on 1 Meg a second online ordering downloads, though I imagine by the time the net is this fast DVD 6.4gig games with be the norm.

I have Civ3 LE preordered at my local EB and they have given me a release date of 19th November.
I called my local EB today re: the New Zealand release date and they say that it is probably due to differences in parallel importing laws or something.
INTERESTINGLY, the chap I spoke to said that EB very strictly adhere to publisher's release dates and do this to stay in the publisher's good books. This I can appreciate and I guess they get brownie points for doing this and get special breaks from the publishers (maybe this is why apparently the LE is only available from EB in Australia - maybe this is not true though it is stated in their most recent catalogue though) He did say, however, that sometimes other stores like K-Mart or wherever 'break' and sell them before the official release date which is generally because they receive the stock well before release date and accidentally put the stock on the shelves because they are idiots. He said that in this case then they can get permission from the publisher/distributor or whoever to sell the game!!!
SO! If anyone in Australia can buy the game from somewhere or sees it on the shelves before 19/11, please post in this forum and we may be able to also get EB to release the game early, especially for all of those who have pre-ordered the LE from EB as it is one of the only places to get it at the same release date as the Standard Edition.
Otherwise we will then perhaps be able to get the game somewhere else!

Hmm...maybe if you tell the guy the guy that K-Mart in Sydney are already selling Civ3, it'll stir up some interstate rivalry and he'll give your copy the LE. Not that any K-Marts in Sydney are actually selling Civ3!!!
Does the Brisbane EB actually have Civ3 yet, but just isn't allowed to sell it?

I didn't ask if they had it yet. I don't think he would say even if they did have it. I imagine they will have it at least a few days before the release date though. This was the Garden City store I called BTW, which is where I have preoredered.

So, when was the last time New Zealand beat Australia at anything?
The NZ distributors are Roadshow and I've been told that the game should be in the country today (October 31) and in the stores by Friday.
So, who cares about sport anyway? This is a much more important thing to win!

Below is an email I have just received from dstore. I guess if it is available from them on the 9th and EB are not willing to follow suit I will just get SE from dstore instead of LE from EB...
What are everybody else's plans for acquiring Civ3? Just strolling into the store eventually? For me I must have this game NOW. Although I just started some new Civ2 games last night and will probably be happy with those for a bit.
Dear Mark
Thank you for your email. Yes our Civilization III is set for release on
the 9/11/2001.
Please feel free to email me with any further enquires.
Regards
Lauren

I'm not too interested in the LE, which makes things a bit easier. I'm also not too fussed in getting it absolutely as early as I can, because I won't really have time to play it until the weekend anyway. So picking it up on Friday the 9th will be fine for me. I think I'll just waltz into a store and pick it up. Then I might waltz out again, staring intently at the box.
