You people haven't been paying any attention at all have you?
Forests are not a terrain type anymore, not really. You get forests on grassland, forests on hills, forests up mountains, probably forsests on plains. Basicly like real life.

What about swamps? I haven't heard anything about swamps yet. Are they in? What are their characteristics?

BlueHooHoo: You know what we really need to know about: Is whether you can work all of the 21 tiles of a city or whether your citizens have to wait until their cultural borders extend 2 squares from the city centre.
This has been debated and misunderstood for ages now!
Thanks Blue!!!! Thanks for all of your excellent posts! I plan on doing the same for the European fans when I get my copy.

Ok, one question.
in the strat guide thread, the guy said that the great and small number were reversed, and now there are 24 grea wonders and 12 small. this doesn't seem right. can u confirm?
also, what is the status of the manhattan project?

Do you think you could post any pics of leaders I don't have in my leaders thread?
I would especially like non-ancient pics of Hiawatha and Shaka

adaMada,
Benchmarks at Tom's Hardware show that Athlon beats P4 even at Quake, which is as "multimedia" as you get in games.

I figure much like SMAC. I wonder if there will already be some forests on the map, before planted by your glorious Workers.

Hi People,
Thanks for all your positive comments, I'm just glad I can (try) and answer some of your questions.
SERAPISIV - Damn, no sign of Elvis yet. Surely he can't have left the building?
PETERK - The French are great, now my best friends in the game (took a lot of selling).....The Russians are now top of my hit list. I have noticed it can be quiet hard work hanging on to a foreign city once you've captured it. The local population resent it and start resisting. The only way to quell the resistors is to station powefull military units in the city - the more the better. I still manged to loose a couple back to their orignal owners (and lost the units staioned there at the same time).
AKRON - the strategic resources have been somewhat scarcer than others, luckily I have started in the US and control a fairly large amount of real estate, I can see that this wont always be the case. There are plenty of luxury resources on my world map that I can't get too (mainly in Africa). I'm currently not in a particularly strong bargaining position for them, too selfish to give away my advanced tech in exchange!
URBAN RANGER - you're right, my mistake, the other office PC is a P4 1.9Mhz, GeForce3, 512Mb RAM and XP, still runs surprisingly slowly. Dunno why, probably a set-up issue of some sort.
EL HILDAGO - There are only two maps included in the current version of the game these are Earth (standard and Huge). Rivers do not run in squares instead they run along the edges of squares, they don't give any movement bonus. The terrain types are the same as Civ2, except flood plains I think, can't recall them being in C2? The mountain types are identical game-play wise, just different graphically.
JASON BEAUDOIN - you can work any of the initial fat 'X' 21 city tiles, you don't have to wait for the cultural boundaries to expand, they are concurrent with the initial surrounding squares. This of course only works if other towns aren't too close to you etc..
DAINBRAMAGED13 - there are 10 small wonders and 24 great wonders. As I understand it ALL civs can build a small one but each great wonder is unique (only one each per game). The Manhattan project allows construction of nuke weapons by ALL civilizations.
MANKIND - here is the title menu.
I've probably missed a few questions, I'm sure you'll get much more info in a day or two!!!
Cheers BHH

blue, thank you so much for posting!
did you use any colonies so far? does AI use them? are they any good, that is, is it really a good deal to build one instead of grabbing more land by building a city on top of that resource?

LARUSSO - adding a multiplayer button would have been fun!!!! You sir, have a devious mind!
The colonies work really well; it can take an awful long time to build a road out to them though, especially if it's to some ore up in a mountain range .You need the road connecting them to get the benefit of the resource. But it’s cheaper and safer than building a new town. The AI can be pretty aggressive in acquiring new territory, it has colonies and towns springing up all over the place, the map (at least in my games) filled up very quickly.

I've heard rumors of Groucho Marx being a replacement, is that true? Do each culture types have different pix for entertainer/scientist/tax etc, or are the constant between say the Zulus, the Japanese, and the Germans?
Thanks for all the info. You gonna be in the chat room any time soon?

That was my impression from the screenshots I've seen - full map just after 0 A.D. That's going to create some friction between Civs. Does the AI city placement appear to make sense (relative to the sometimes bizarre city placements in Civ2)?
How about some more screens, please?

can you answer a few questions of mine please?
1. Could you post a picture of a tactical nuke like you did for the ICBM?
2. How much damage does an ICBM and a tactical nuke inflict on a city?
3. Does the ICBM hit as soon as you fire it or does it hit on the next turn?
4. How much does each wonder cost?
thank you!
i really hope you answer

During a chat on Saturday, Blue said that his version doesn't include any scenarios. However, that doesn't mean that the release version doesn't as he also didn't recieve a manual besides a pdf file, so he might be missing a few extras even though the game is totally complete

If he loads up the editor he would be able to position it perfectly & display a full mini-map. That would also show us if NewZealand & the SouthPole exist or not on the Huge Map via the min-map.

SERAPISIV - Elvis might be in the game after all!, the entertainers change with each age, I just haven't had time to get far enough.
KORN469 - Nuclear attack. You launch a nuclear attack in the same way as you target an air unit bombing mission. All units in the target square and adjacent squares are destroyed, regardless of their cultural allegiance (in other words everyone gets blown away). In addition, a bombed city is completely destroyed. The defence against most attacks is the small wonder SDI defence.
ROOK and PYRODREW - I loaded the huge map in the Editor, you don't get a view of the minimap and with the size of the screen grabs I can post, both islands just look like funny shaped greeny/brown blobs!
COMRADE TRIBUNE - I'll try and post Despotism when I get a bit of time
