Is it possible to play Civ2 on only 15-30 minutes a day?
I need to hear from you Civ2 vets. I've been trying to learn/play Civ2, but I only have a very small amount of time available each day. Is it even possible for me to do this, or will I be old and gray before I even figure it out? When I read of people spending 10-12 hours in a single day I wonder if I'll ever be really able to get the hang of it. Also, am I missing the continuity that comes from long continuous sessions? Maybe doing these "bite-sized chunks" is causing me to be unable to see the big picture. What do you think?

Straight answer to the question in your message's title: yes!

But it's true that you will easily get hooked for many
hours by the game. At least I'm one of those.

Yes, it's possible. I've been playing Civ2 from 30 minutes to an hour eversince I got the internet But you have to realize that I've been playing Civ2 since it was released and it's not so "new" any more.

Stick at it, whatever way you can. I find it hard to pick up a game for short periods, especially when you have lots of cities building different things, and you have the semblance of a strategy.

Just one more turn.....

You'll need to make notes to yourself to use your time efficiently. (For example, 'settler being built in Carthage goes to three-special site to the north' or 'silk caravan from Utica going to Trondheim.' Otherwise, you end up puzzling out why such-and-such unit is in such-and-such place. Also need to develop a pattern regarding early city builds, so you know what gets built next. Also, write down any relevant messages if you are not going to act on them right away, e.g., "Babylon is about to complete the Hanging Gardens."

This is how I've played for the last two years! Just make note of what you are up to at the end of your last turn. Next time you should have little trouble picking up where you left off.

This is particularly good practice for any units running around, particularly caravans. Sometimes just keeping track of the long term objectives is enough. You get to pause, giving you time to reflect and come up with a better approach. Good luck!

15 minutes seems a little short; half an hour should be OK. I play in one-hour segments and don't make any notes. But I usually make some dumb moves when I start up my save file and forget what I was doing last time.
