In the Age of Empires PBEM we started an inelastic 48 hours turn limit and so far it is working. If the player doesn't show during that time, the AI gets his turn untill it's time for him to play again and so on. However it is easier to implement with 5-10 cities and a dozen units or so...

Raging dragon
I'd say let's implement the 48 hour rule, I joined to enjoy myself, not to get pissed off. 48 hours or else the AI gets ya (unless you 've stated a leave of absence, which gives you ,say, 72 hours). AI control is historical as periods of internal unrest and missmanagement, so: vote on this and get the game going, please!

I think we ought to implement strict posting rules (read above). This is really bad form. I think we should be looking for an Arab replacement too, already.

In this post he said he'd be back soon, but that was a week ago and he's been a month and a half late here. I'd say play both, and if he ever comes back just hand over NATO to him.

The Sharq Al Aswat Daily
Military Coup in Cairo!
Forces loyal to vigilante dictator Al Mordo were rooted out after hours of brutal room-to-room fighting in the Presidential Palaces and various Government buildings in downtown Cairo. Al Mordo however has not yet been apprehended, there is speculation that he has fled to Russian occupied Afghanistan. Adding insult to injury, Government patrols involved in Counter-Insurgency operations in Eastern Iran were shocked to discover an entire Battalion of Russian Special Operations Forces apparently liaising with Mordo loyalists, nearly 300 kilometers inside the Iranian frontier! The new Government, already troubled by an escalating civil war, was flabbergasted. After an emergency session of conferencing between the NATO allies and the Arab League, the allied governments steadfastedly declared that this flagrant disregard of Iranian sovereignty will not go un-answered. Spurred on by an uneasy allied government, NATO counter-intelligence has unmasked several cells of Russian sleeper agents operating inside major Middle Eastern and European cities, including a Russian trained and funded terrorist organization operating in remote locations in the Carpathian Mountains, outside of Bucharest. It is rumored that they are negotiating with Mordo sypathizers for sample stocks of various chemical and biological agents.
In light of these recent developments an Arab League official, on the condition of anonymity, is quotable as saying: "If the Russians do not disband these units operating inside Iran [62,70 and 17,23], and does not cease in the harboring of the Al Mordo criminals, they will be meeting Allah sooner than they expected!"
